ultimate avengers movie

all i can say is that it rocked. i enjoyed it. wish it were a bit longer. but they told everything and did it well.

Caught a sneak preview of it a few weekends back. Yeah it was enjoyable, comes right out of Marvel’s ULTIMATES comcis series (available in paperback and hardcover). Actually some of the still artwork was pulled right out of the books.

The books are a bit less “all-ages.”

A bit slow in some parts, some of the animation was a bit weak but it’s a fun flick… solid voice work. good use of CGI.

yeah man the animation was weak sometimes. if it was like the artwork was like it was in the comic then it would have been great.

I agree… it would have set a new BAR in terms of animation style. As it was it was little more that big budget saturday morning cartoons.

Aside from The Samuraii Jack house of animation, U.S. animation needs to really get out from under the shadow of Japanese Animae.

I’m an Avengers fan from WAY back…I’ve even got a few of the really early comics. I’ve not been following any comic storylines these days (too much on the plate as they say), but I’m revisiting a lot of my old childhood memories as my son discovers comic books. We picked up the Ultimate Avengers Movie yesterday and watched it last night. I almost couldn’t get my son to go to bed afterwords he was so excited.
It’s interesting the things they decided to change, and I think that overall it worked really well story-wise. I’m dying to see the next one now just to see what the deal is with those aliens, and I’m REALLY excited by the revelation of another of my favorite heroes getting an animated movie, Dr. Strange!

If you liked the flick you should check out THE ULTIMATES… the “re-imagined” Avengers that the movie was based on. Not sure how young your son is… might be a little spicey for younger readers.

Also of interest might be Ultimate Spiderman.

Both of those series are collected in a variety of formats and can probably be found at most book stores these days.

yeah the us does. there are plenty of good artists, but i wonder how long it wuold have taken to make a movie look like the comic book drawing wise.

I bought it the other day, it was cool, gave an interesting take on Captain America. I never read the ultimates, so it was odd to see Captain America as an original avenger. Nonetheless it was worth watching, the Hulk woopin up on everyone was nice, too bad they couldn’t set up some of the nuances that were interesting, like Hulk wielding Thor’s hammer. It looked like they will release a couple more this year, I’ll probably get those too.

Hi I’ve been living under a rock for the past year. So I’m wondering - Is there a Ultimate Spiderman flick aswell? And is there any info about that Dr Strange flick?

crawls back

Ultimate Spider Man was done or somewhat on MTV(2?). Half hour shorts, they are available on DVD, maybe a dozen episodes or so.
