UK Systema workshop

I’m running a workshop on:

Saturday August 2nd 1.30 - 4.30pm
The Octagon Room
Loughton Leisure Centre
Traps Hill Loughton,

This workshop will centre around some of the internal aspects of Systema. We will cover a range of breathing methods and exercises, including:

  • different breathing techniques

  • breathing to strengthen body and psyche

  • fear control / working under pressure

  • developing internal power

  • breathing for health and rejuvenation

This is an opportunity to train at a higher level of intensity and a chance to explore your own limits within a safe non-competitive environment.

No previous Systema experience is necessary.

Fee: £15 / £20 members / non-members

Ok, I may be stupid, but what the hell is Systema?

Systema is a Russian martial art. There’s information, articles, video clips etc at

www.systemauk.com

bob10 correct me if i’m wrong, its only what i have heard:
systema is russian KGB ‘kung fu’. with the fall of the old govt it is becoming kore mainstream, i believe it has a tradtional basis in the cossacks of the russian steppe.

essentially its an internal art, looks amazing from video’s. very relaxed, the big russian guys cannot be hit, held, thrown etc, they just manipulate energies elsewhere or something, although i have noticed that they sweat alot!!

there may be a prejudice against systema simply because its not chinese, but we shouldnt be so ignorant to think that only chinese internal arts are best, they all had to be invented some time and none where passed to man from the gods.

systema is russian for ‘the system’ a pretty unasuming name.

all the best bob10

That’s a fair assessment FITD. I’d only add that while the major principles are very similar to the CIMA, the training methods and underlying philosophy are quite different.

Cheers
