Last night a friend and I were talking MA and he asked me if I watched any UFC type events lately. I told him I have not. He told me that there is some new Japanese guys that is the best he has ever seen. He was supposed to even beat Rickson by breaking his arm? Is this true? Anyone know this guy? The guy told me he is outrageous. If so, I would love to watch him in action.
Please please please do not take this as anything but being curious to see who this new super talent is! I really enjoyed watching those events events years ago when I was practicing BJJ. It would be nice to see what the best of the best looks like today!
Saku still fights in Pride, though I think his best years are now behind him. He has beaten 4 Gracies, earning him the nickname ‘Gracie Hunter’, and all of his wins are nothing short of amazing. You can go to sherdog.com and download his highlight reel. In my mind, Saku in one of the most inspirational fighters in recent history; you can call me a fan
Sakuraba is my favorite MMA fighter of all time. He’s certainly not new, and if he’s sensible he’ll retire soon.
Royce’s corner threw in the towel after six rounds and one and a half hours - according to “The Gracie Way” Royce had a broken foot.
Saku broke Renzo’s arm after a textbook escape from a rear bodylock, reversal, and throw to a Kimura.
The Royler fight was stopped because the ref thought Royler’s arm was broken in a Kimura. The Gracie camp went into uproar because Royler had not submitted and was not, according to them, even in real danger.
I think Saku also defeated Ryan.
Sakuraba/Rickson would have been the match of the century, too bad it never happened and probably never will.
A highly skilled grappler and always puts on a great show in the ring. Genki Sudo is cut from similar cloth.
Saku/Carlos Newton was a good grappling match.
Saku / Allen Goes is interesting because Goes successfully fought using mostly kicks from his guard, not dissimilar to some WC groundfighting tactics I have seen - though I doubt that they would have been quite as effective if not joined with Goes’ fairly awesome guard skills. Saku/Belfort showed similar tactics, except that Belfort got pasted, unlike Goes - though to be fair Vitor allegedly broke his hand on Saku’s skull early in the fight.
