this is reprinted from another thread-
just so Frank would see it!
(I wish I could be there to see him do the cartoon, thing-y’know, where their face turns into the thermometer and boils, steam blasting out his ears, maybe that siren whistle sound…)
No offense, Frank. Just playin wit’chas.
Also no offense to any CLF lines.
Just having fun with a personal theory of mine that I’ve had for several years now. Let me preface it by also saying that I love CLF-all its versions, and have a great respect for the style and its players.
That being said, I offer you this little piece of “history:”
I have a personal theory-CLF was originally a Hung Kuen system.
Hung-Ga forms are both kuen-faht (Fighting techniques) and Gung-Faht (power developmental techniques) in their forms. They are played slower, with emphasis on rooting and one breath, one strike power generation.
But nobody fights like that.
So here comes this young upstart, Chan Heung. He starts playing his Hung-Ga forms, the same way he fights-fast, aggressive, barrages.
His Sifu scolds him saying,“No! You cannot play the forms like that.”
Chan argues,“Why not? You should fight the way you train! If I want to develop power, I’ll just develop some cool dummies, with weighted arms an’ stuff”
“Look, Ah-Chan,” an exasperated Sifu said, trying to retain his composure.
“You just can’t. It wouldn’t be Hung-Ga.”
“M’Hai Ngoh-ge Kuen-Faht!” (It’s not our method)
“Choy Lei Faht!” (Blast your method!!) the young Chan responded.
“I’ll just call it something else!”
-the rest is history (his story)
(“Choy!” is a term used to blast away bad luck, demons, gwais, or spells)
why u dirty rat…i’ma gonna getcha…
u want some? u gonne get some? from where, i have no idea:D
personally, i could care less.
gung fu is relative. NO SYSTEM is completely unique in the world of martial arts.
yeah? Wait until you see my uncovering of the real truth behind the green grass monk.
It has to do with the attempt by Chinese rebels to destroy the East Indian Trading Company’s import of opium by bringing in Thai sticks…
bong-sao takes on a whole new meaning.
why do you think Gung-Fu is so graceful and fluid? Look at techniuques such as butterfly palms.
trails, dude…check out the trails.
well there is a reason that he was called “The Green Grass Monk”!
I wonder if Ching Cho was a Buddist?
oh and can you make your bibliography available to me too?

I would, but I wrote it down on a big sheet of rolling paper from my Cheech and Chong album. There was an incident at a Greatful Dead concert…
well, to make a long story short, it inspired them to make a movie,
“Up in Smoke”

No doubt they were also concerned with… variety? (riiiiiight…)
Just as an aside, Buddhists keep good records, so if you can find the temple he was at, you can find the generation “Ching”, and given name “Cho”.
Nice fictional tale!
Chan Heung was an eclectic MMA fighter of his time!
LOL!
yes he was…lol…but may i ask you, what makes you think Ching Cho had anything to do with Chan Heung?
MMA isn’t a system . . . . .
But Chan Heung knew what the f*ck he was doing for sure.
