I have a friend in the LA area who is looking for a good/reputable school to study at.
I almost moved out there myself…and the only 2 I came across that looked good, were Buck Sam Kong’s and Vernon Rieta’s. However, I’m sure there are many schools I have overlooked in my search.
I was wondering if anyone can give me some insight/suggestions.

Try Don Hamby
If Hung Gar is your focus look up Don Hamby. His website is http://www.quandoman.com/. He is a student of Sifu Buck Sam Kong and has studied a bit with Sifu Lam Chan Fai. His is supposed to be fairly good teacher.

I have visited with Sifu Hamby in L.A., and trained with him on several occaisions. He is a solid, well versed teacher. I would definitely recommend him to your friend.

Beiquan, I’m curious if you know a man by the name of Harold (aka “Hardly Harmonious Harold”). I met and sparred around with him a bit back in '93. He had some outstanding skills, and I think he instructed at your school.
yeah, he doesn’t practice at our school anymore… he (i believe) was a student of my teacher’s who now studies with my sigung.
Go train with knifefighter he claims to have beaten all the teachers in town.â„
