Hi friends, it’s with deep sadness that Sifu Ling has passed away peacefully in his sleep early this morning.

Thank you for the friendship, he will be missed.

May his soul rest in peace.

I never met Eric in person but he was active on our forum. He came to my attention through the documentary Needle Through Brick and wrote a review of that documentary for YMAA - Needle Through Brick: A Postcard of Traditional Kung Fu from Borneo.

We corresponded a little but most of my interaction with him was here on the KFM forum.

RIP to sifu ling. He posted a lot of helpful info back in the days where forums were popular. It seems that despite his failing health in recent years he persisted in sharing on facebook. Hope future kung fu hobbyists will take his example to be more friendly, open and sharing.

Needle through brick was also eye opening look at Fujian based martial arts. Only recently has Fujian kung fu started to perform in a non modern manner.
