Whats the name of a Kung Fu uniform? Is it Hakima? Thanks.

Didn’t know they had names. Thought they were just regional variations on durable peasants’/monks’ clothing…?

Hakama are dark wide pleated Japanese trousers used in kendo, aikido, iaido etc.

My uniform is called Mary. But that’s because of the apron.

I think you are looking at places that sell mainly karate supplies, and dabble in Chinese stuff. I don’t see a Kung fu jacket called a GI anywhere here:

They are. Why would Chinese people call a Chinese top a “gi”? It’s not a special uniform for working out or fighting, it’s just a Chinese-style shirt.

Do-gi or Keiko-gi

We call them Sa’am pants/coat. (pronounced “sawm”)

Weeell, it exists, but it just means ‘clothes’: so

keikogi is ‘practise clothes’,

dogi is ‘way clothes’,

kendogi is ‘way of the sword clothes’ and

nodogi is ‘no way clothes’ as worn by traditional Chinese artists like OE Simon!:smiley: :smiley:
