It is for the USAWKF team. There is not really a problem with the Sanshou Team.
It was with the Taolu team and the selection criteria.
In a nutshell…and tell me if this does not sound at least a bit fishy:
Anthony Goh was voted off of the board of the USAWKF and refuses to step down. He held his team tryouts and the board held theirs. The board’s were in Berkley and Gohs were in Baltimore.
The board’s allowed for the old and new compulsory routines (important since the standard materials such as videos and books were out for only a few weeks.)
The Baltimore Team Trials rules were put together by Lu Xiaolin. She stipulated that ONLY the new compulsories were allowed. She was one of the first coaches in the US to learn and teach these routines at her school. Fishy #1
At the Team Trials, videotaping by competitors for their own records was forbidden. The reason given was that the evnet was taping and that their copy would be available. The only reason anyone wanted to tape was for proof in case of arbitration of judging. Fishy #2
There were some very obvious problems in judging and political scoring…but of course trying to appeal these without video proof is next to impossible. Fish #3.
Lu Xiaolin as organizer was spending time with the judges in judges’ meetings during the event when scores were being deliberated. This is highly illegal. Fishy #4.
Lu Xiaolin selected all of the judges and the head judge for the event…and had many students in the competition. Conflict of interest big time…Fishy #5.
There were the A, B, and C teams. The A Team goes unless someone can’t…then you start taking people from the B…then the C…
There are 8 Taolu Team members. Out of the competitors, there were a number who were on the Team in 1999 and are still quite good. others who have been known to consistently beat Lu Xiaolin’s students in other events…
Out of the 8 A Team members, 6 were from Lu Xiaolin’s school and her students. Fishy #6 _ See Inside Kung Fu on the newstands now for these 6 people.
The petition is to ask the IWuF to support the Board of Directors in getting Goh to abide by their vote to impeach him.
It is driven by the fact that since the inception of the USAWKF, the organization was supposed to be an umbrella organization where SanShou, Taolu, Taijiquan, Traditional Kung Fu, etc… would have a common bond and it was supposed to promote them all and build upon common ground and get things working together in the US. He has consistently divided people, caused Traditional and Modern Wushu people alike to abandon the organization. Ignored just about every faction, done nothing but ask for money and then tell everyone how the org is in debt…but produce no financial statements to back it up…
So, the idea of the petition is that if things are to get better and have a chance at being run fairly for all, Goh has to leave.
Most recently, his group put out a letter that accused several key people of improprieties…but with nothing to go on. This letter was in the guise of a new organization to promote Chinese Martial Arts. However, the letter on it was ONLY in Chinese - thus adding into the mix racism and prejudice… a further example of poor leadership on his part.
