need a piece of advice

hi there,
now, it is approximately for six months ý have been attending aikido lessons. it is an admirable art. now ý am thinking of attending kung fu and will try to practise both arts. do you think is it too early for me to start a new art before not having been mastered another? anybody there of the same experience with mine?

Sometimes you get into something and find out it’s not for you, or you find something that suits your taste more. Don’t waste too much time jumping aorund, but otherwise, by all means, go for it.

Do yourself a favor and do some advanced research. Go to different schools and check them out. Here in the US most schools will let you attend a class or two for free to check it out. Hit the web, like this forum and ask questions about a style. It might help you narrow down your interests or weed out the duds.

It takes many years of practice to even begin to “master” Aikido.I don’t think taking something else will be a nuisance to your Aikido progress.Try to find an art that does not specialise in the same area.

it is just that old jong; that ý wonder. is kung fu art can be practised in harmony with aikido?

Used to be Constantinople

Check out the kung fu, if you like it, do it.

even old New York was once called Amsterdam

Sorry, had to do it

Sorry guys, just how often do we get a chance to do this.

She’ll be waiting in Istanbul

Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it, I can’t say
(People just liked it better that way)

Take me back to Constantinople
No, you can’t go back to Constantinople
Now it’s Istanbul, not Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works?
That’s nobody’s business but the Turks’

auw yeah it’s this
have you listened this from voice mail?

I don’t see why not!..I have practiced Aikido in the past for a few years and I still can mix it with my Wing Chun without problems. It is similar to Chin na.It can blend with almost anything (IMHO)

I even think that learning Tai-Chi along with Aikido would be beneficial to both arts.

Judo is often studied paralel to Aikido for the ground work mainly.

You have a vast choice to explore!..

I’d mix up the Aikido w/ a long range hitting and striking art ie Northern Long Fist, Choy Lay Fut, Muy Thai, etc.

all right a moral question: do you think should ý inform my aikido sensei of that ý will begin kung fu besides aikido?

Again, there is no reason why you should keep it a secret to your sensei.
There is nothing wrong from your part and he should not be against that. He has a problem if he is.

be forward and open with your instructor. He shouldn’t mind, and I bet he ha sprobably studied more thyen one art himself. If he does mind, it might be a good time to look for something else anyway.

he is a sixth dan karate sensei( ý don’t know how do you spell…). and ý am afraid of offending him if he tells me that ý can do karate, which ý don’t want to, instead of kung fu, and ý won’t accept that. what is your advice? because ý love him so much and don’t want to upset him.

you just have to follow your heart man. Go with what you feel. Hopefuly he’ll be able to understand that and won’t have a problem with you checking out kungfu.

thank you all, for your comments and replies.
