Are you anywhere near Baltimore? My Tai Tzu Sifu just opend a school. He’s teaching from his Preying Mantis system mostly I think. If Baltimore is good for you, I can post the address if you like.

i think there’s a well regarded xingyi teacher in gaithersburg, which is relatively close to frederick (approx. 20 minutes).
if you’re interested, i’ll try and track it down.
there are tons of kung fu schools in maryland actually. but ones that stand out are tougher. you need shaolintiger to chime in here. he could point you to some good local teachers, i expect.

Anthony Goh has his school… US Koushu Academy is off of 795… Baltimore San Shou trains out of Golds Gym off of 795… there are quite a few ‘smaller’ establishments sprinkled here and there…

he’s listed on a neijia directory i have bookmarked. there are three others for maryland too, in baltimore, bowie, and… the other one.
though i’m not a kung fu student myself, the other notables in maryland that jump to mind are dennis brown, tai yim, and willy ‘bam’ johnson. as i said, i can’t attest to any of them personally, but they’re well thought of, i think. (i have been to one class of willy johnson’s in laurel, maryland, but it’s difficult to tell much from that.)

in response, i am looking for a teacher that will not treat me like a helpless woman and one who will encourage me to work my arse off as i’m not affraid of pain or hard work…
and oh yes…it was wah lum where i studied…i know that there are many opnions on wah lum’s brand of kung fu, but let me say that i would not have learned to push through pain the way i have or to completely dedicate myself to a physical art if it weren’t for wah lum…that’s all i will say about that.

IME, come early (at least an hour if your work schedule allows) and stay late (until you can’t walk or your Sifu changes his shoes and begins heading for the door)…and training doesn’t stop when you leave the shool premesis…i agree with you. i’ve been training in the snow & freezing rain on painfully slanted pavement since i’ve had no school to call home 
but you do what you do to make…eh…do. lol

The sifu, apoweyn got info to you on, seems to also have Northern praying mantis type stuff–T’ien Shan P’ai.
It’s right off of route 355 (south of you) in an area called Gaithersburg.
There is a reputable person also T’ien Shan P’ai (a Northern sytle), also off of route 355. Closer than Gaithersburg–Clarksburg. Pat Han****…if still taking students. If you can’t find more information I likely could.
These are 45 and 30 minutes -ish from the Frederick area.

Hello, Sorry it took so long to respond, but I got a 1.6 Gig Athlon processor, mother board and about 1 gig of memory for Christmas, and I have been rebuilding my computer for the last week or so. I just got it to work with the cable modem today (I had some weird config problem)
Anyway, Sifu livingston’s new school is at

He is teaching primarily from his 7* mantis curriculem, and Chao familiy Taiji Quan, but he also has a Wing Chun Sifu working for him, and he offeres Tai Tzu Chang Chuan to those interested as well.
