I went to my usual shops today and came home with a bagfull:
Jackie Chan, Mr. Nice Guy. New Line. $3.99.
Ninja Destroyer. $2.00.
Silver Dragon Ninja. $2.00.
The Street Fighter’s Last Revenge. $1.99.
The Shinobi Ninja, VHS. $1.00.
As I mentioned in my other posts, I am mainly collecting at this time, Jackie Chan Chinese productions, and I did not have Mr. Nice Guy, and I don’t think I have ever seen it before. I was very happy to find the 2 Ninja movies, one I believe in a Godfrey Ho(Ninja Destroyer), and the other appears to be a Tomas Tang Filmark. I just picked up the Shinobi Ninja, because it had Ninja in the title, not familiar with who made it. And I have all the Street Fighters on DVD in some comp sets, but not Last Revenge, but I did have it on VHS, so I had to upgrade it for $1.99. Not bad I think for a shopping day.
Comments welcome.

I picked up all four of the new Shaw Brothers releases from Dragon Dynasty/Celestial:
My Young Auntie
36th Chamber of Shaolin
The One-Armed Swordsman
King Boxer
I’d seen all of them years (decades) ago, except for One-Armed Swordsman. This was filmed in 1967 and I was surprised that I liked it. Surprised because except for Master of the Flying Guillotine, I generally don’t like Jimmy Wang Yu movies. But this is a quality Chang Cheh-directed film, and it’s really interesting to see some very, very young kung fu movie performers who would later become very familiar names; Lau Kar-Leung, Lau Kar-Wing, Fan Mei-Sheng, Cliff Lok, Paul Tien Feng, and even a glimpse of Yuen Woo-Ping as an extra. Lau Kar-Leung was co-MA director of this film, and also played one of the main villain’s two killer henchmen. The fights were not as sophisticated as in later films, but there was actually a fighting strategy used by the villains that needs to be countered, rather than the usually sloppy sword-swinging in most of the 1960s-era wuxia films.
Suffice to say, 36th Chamber, My Young Auntie, and King Boxer should be a part of any Shaw Bros and MA movie collection, IMO.
