The Steroids of today are awesome and undetectible mostly; why compare an athlete of the 70’s with those of today ? They did not have the drugs etc to make them great. If they of today did not take the modern drugs of today they wouldnt be where they are look at Lance Armstrong for example. Thje training of the 70’s was much more intense than today so give them the roids and no telling what would have been. KC
Dude, Arnold was Mr. Olympia in 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975 and 1980. He was juiced out the ying yang!
as far as i know steroids arent banned from body building. just diuretics.
so tea and coffee arent allowed then ?
pour souls
according to something i just read the other day on the topic (which is strange that it came up) that they are talking about water pills. not coffee and tea. what i learned is that there are water pills that take the water primarily from the skin (i forget what they have in them that causes this) and there are the general kind of water pills that just flush water out of the whole body. the danger with this is that if you take to much water out of the muscle you can cause serious damage and or death. specifially becasue the heart is, after all, a muscle.
actually wasnt bruce really the first mma guy? i mean in enter the dragon he made sammo hung tap out to an arm bar. i think he would have kept on training and making his style better incorporateing different stuff. i mean he took boxing jiujitsu and fencing already into his stuff. he would be coaching now and im sure he would have a good team.

Of course, Bruce Lee was the very first guy to mix grappling with standup.
You realize, don’t you, that judo used to have standup striking? That before BL came to the U.S., that guys took Judo? And boxing? And Kenpo?

Wonder if people will argue in 20 years that Jet Li was the first Shaolin warrior or something.

yeah i do know that. ![]()
what i remember bruce lee for is “mainstreaming” kung fu movies and pretty much setting a standard for fight scenes for the next 20 years or so in hollywood. not until matrix and crouching tiger did they start to change.

Bruce Lee was just a popular actor who happened to be a martial artist. There were MA movies before and MA movies after. BL acted before as a non-martial artist even as a kid.
Since he never fought in tournaments or anything nobody knows how good he was.
Why do people confuse actors on a screen for the real deal? It’s just stupid to do that.
bruce lee didnt beat wong jack man
wong jack man didnt beat bruce lee
wong jack man wasnt even the original man who was supposed to fight bruce lee. he was originally supposed to fight my sifu david chin.
when SF chinatown wrote up the challenge, my sifu turned his back for a split second (everyone wanted him to be the one to fight), and wong jack man ran up and signed the challenge form.
true story.

NO. Dragon the Movie is absolutely CORRECT. Just ask Linda Lee.
Wong Jack Man and the Chinese martial arts mafia kidnapped Bruce Lee and made him fight WJM, and WJM broke Bruce Lee’s back and then after he recovered he invented his own fighting system and beat WJM at an open tournament in under 1 minute and then WJM’s brother tracked down BL on a movie set and they fought to the death.

Hey, anybody think that BL was actually having an affair with the actress where he was on the night he died and he actually died just from a drug overdose?

ok i never said he was a good fighter. i know he was an actor as kid.
obviously there were kung fu movies before genius. and after too. but he did a lot for the genre. he basically popularized it in america. where only 50 people would go to a theater now 150-200 are going.
i know he never fought tournaments. i have watched his training. that kung fu demo he did where he performed mantis and such was pretty bad actually. i saw some of his serious training and his idea’s are good. to me it seems he just put his cma training down on paper, use what works. I have also seen the trianing bloopers of his stuff where he misses the bags and stuff. wasn’t perfect, no one is.
The Bruce Lee Show
The Chinese are making a 40 part television show about Bruce Lee for the runup to Olympics.
BEIJING — China’s national broadcaster has started shooting a 40-part series on the late action film star Bruce Lee, part of an apparent bid to promote Chinese culture in the run-up to next year’s Beijing Summer Olympics.
China Central Television started filming “The Legend of Bruce Lee” last weekend in Shunde in Guangdong province in southern China, Xinhua News Agency reported this week. Shunde is the ancestral home of the martial arts icon, who was born in San Francisco in 1940.
Xinhua said the $6.4-million production will also be filmed in Hong Kong and the United States, where Lee studied and launched his acting career.
“I’m nervous and also excited, but I will do my best,” said Chen Guokun, who plays Lee.
Chen, best known for his role in the action comedy “Kung Fu Hustle,” said he has practiced kung fu for many years and that from the time he was a child, Lee had been his role model.
Lee died in 1973 at age 32 from swelling of the brain. His films include “Fists of Fury” and “Enter the Dragon.”
The TV series is due to be aired in 2008.
