is there a market for old kung fu movies?

I have like 15-20 in VHS form that I haven’t watched in years. Does anyone even have a VHS player anymore?

Some of them are bad ass, like this one called Dragon Claws or something, and then this other one is Snake Deadly Act which has one of the best kung fu training scenes ever. In fact, the full movie is on youtube, watch from 55:00 to 1:07:00 and tell me this isn’t AWESOME!

(I don’t get how that footwork training device works. It’s just wood and rope but it snaps back when the sifu releases the tension in the rope like there’s a spring or something.)

Anyway, I have a ton of these movies. Does anyone buy them on eBay or anything or are they out of date now because they’re VHS?

  1. lots of good ones

were now uploaded to youtube in full.

one hour and more or less than 2 hours.

  1. people now are watching on line for the old movies.

tudou, youku etc.

  1. or streaming from netflick, hulu etc. (paid subscriptions).

I have a lot of VHS.

then I have vcd’s of the same films.

nowadays I have dvd and hyper DVD etc.

you should either check repost this in the pop culture thread or repost it at kungfucinema.com or both youd get better answers.

VHS is dead…

…and DVD is dying.

We’ve been trying to clear out old VHS for some time. :frowning:

Convert them to DVD like the guys at risingsun did.

That’s not always worth it.

There’s some investment involved to make a conversion and that doesn’t always come back. We’re selective on which titles we convert over - based on past sales. If it didn’t perform that well on VHS, it’s doubtful it’ll improve on DVD.

You’ll note that MartialArtsMart.com has many risingsun titles on clearance too.

funny thing is VHS is actually superior to DVD…but not to blu ray…hell i got vhs from the eighties that still play perfect…i got dvds from last year that i have to perform surgery on to get them to play.

Oh? How’s that? You mean in terms of longevity?

Or in terms of not being forced to sit through ads at the beginning that you can’t fast forward?

both lol…although everything is becoming streamline now…its funny cause streamlining killed independent film and then brought it back to life…me and my colleagues still crack up about it…in a happy way cause we were all ****ting bricks 3 years ago..when we thought we would have to get real jobs.

Nobody wants old kung fu VHS. Even the really rare stuff ends up going for cheap on ebay auctions.
