How many calories in a shot of hard liquor?

I’ve always wondered. The thread about beer giving you a pump in the training forum made me think to ask this. I know beers are around 100 calories, +/- 20 or 30 or whatever depending on the beer.

What’s like vodka or something around the 80 proof level?

Does proof correlate to calories? Which way?

I know someone knows.

The world according to google

"The calories in alcohol are called “empty” because they carry no nutrients with them; nonetheless, they are there. There are 7 calories in a gram of alcohol – one 1-ounce shot of hard liquor contains 80 to 90 calories. "

So calories are constant throughout the various alcohols.

I had heard that it was 1 calorie per proof point per ounce.

Only cheap mass produced beers have so few calories.

Porters and stouts have more.

Porter got it’s name cuz it was brewed to fuel the porters
and stevadores unloading ships.

I need a job where I can drink porter all day.

or better yet, Young’s Double Chocolate Stout

yummy, ya want to turn a chick on to beer get her one of these.

When, exactly, did calories of liquids start to concern you Ironfist?

what about girls who swallow, are they getting a good “shot” of extra calories?

Who cares? Take down about 800 calories of hard liquor, and you will burn them all off later either fighting a stranger, or loving a stranger.

Girls who swallow get the same calories as guys who swallow. Duh.

I was just curious. For me the more calories the better. But sometimes I get worried that I’m not getting enough calories… but if I know how much is in a shot it helps me better estimate how much I’m getting.

Just curious
