Agree with eveyone, well done for getting in the ring. MMA is hardcore ![]()
good on ya!
awsome, that must have been exciting.
Nice going man. It takes some guts to hop in the ring with no notice. The other guy was probably training specifically for this fight for weeks.
You know I’m proud of yah bro, and happy you finally got the opportunity to try it out.
Very classy not mentioning the large weight advantage that guy had on you.
yer gonna be at least as big a monster in mma as you were in kuoshu.
Wait, you weren’t even scheduled for that fight? You just took it on the spot?
****. That’s hardcore!
Congratulations. Nice job on the fill-in; sounds like you did respectably.
Thank you my friends for all of the support…you guys are the best…next time I fight I will write “martial.best.vwh.net.forum” on my back (better start doing more pull-ups)…thanks coach Ross…that means a lot…
Roflmao! You should've put on some swimming goggles and cap and made it your cool wrestling persona! Aquaman!
LOL…yeah Aquaman would be better than Merman (from He-Man)…right?
But taking a fight on short notice has one benefit…it saves you at least a week of stress…I guess I fought based on the principle that “The show must go on”, fans came to see a fight, and I know how hard these guys train so I didn’t want some dude to do all that and then miss his fight cause his opponent was a no-show…but next time I fight I will be more ready than ever…I’m starting training next week…
Did you learn anything specific fighting this guy?
-Will
d@mn - awesome job dude!
Can I claim title to being the no-show to get some ring cred? ![]()
Good job for getting into the ring. Where was the fight held in Richmond?
Thanks 7*…
wdl:
I learned a couple of things…first, MMA is FUN…second I need to move around more to delay a tie up and then try harder not to let him throw me (of course, I didn’t just let him throw me, but I tried to grapple him and throw him, next time I will try harder to just not get thrown myself)…third, although I wrestled back in school and have some experience in submissions, it is a whole nother ball game when you throw punches in there, more things to think about, more tiring…of course, we trained with punches, just not enough…fourth, getting punched on the ground isn’t as bad as I had expected…fifth, MMA gloves don’t do much if you are the guy getting punched…I could feel dude’s knuckles on every punch…sixth, my downfall was when I went for a submission and didn’t get it I had lost guard…so I’ll be more careful in the future when going for submissions…I wish I had just held guard and tried for a stand up…
but most importantly to me, I realized why I am doing this…it’s all for fun…you gotta enjoy it…I had forgotten how to enjoy it because before this I had been doing kung fu tournaments near my house in front of everyone I knew…at that point the goal was, “Don’t make the org or myself look bad”. But when I had that dude on top of me raining down punches…that was fun! And now that I’ve gotten my butt kicked, what is there to fear for next time? I can’t wait to fight again! If you are worried about what other people think, you cannot really enjoy yourself…
Can I claim title to being the no-show to get some ring cred?
Hey don’t sweat it dude…there was some bad traffic on the way there…
Where was the fight held in Richmond?
It was called “the Show Place”…
the only loser is the guy sitting outside the ring talking about how "he'd have dun it bettah"
You mean how he would have struck the guy’s temple with a crane’s beak, monkey’s paw, plus three other tales of mystery, suspense, and Horror?
Very tough and classy, thinking about the other guy who trained.
I have to say though, I also noticed in the picture that that guy must have had what, at least 15 to 20 lbs on you?
Akhilleus, way to go bro. Every loss is a learning experience. Having the balls to step into the ring is half the battle, and it gets easier every time. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Ray and Ford…yes I was giving up about 20 lbs…I was probably around 180 and he was over 200…but in a way that takes a lot of the pressure off of you, when there is a weight difference like that…cause you’re the underdog…
Way to go!
Always knew you were a classy guy, Kimba and Seth send their congrats too!

Good ish bro, way to step up..
glad to hear it was fun and you learned.
Thanx NP and Saek San…now tell your guys to train because like crazy because I will be… ![]()
Oh and one more thing I learned that I forgot to mention…when they say no small joint manipulation in UFC and MMA they are just referring to fingers…so wristlocks are OK…I am going to work on my chin nas more…
