Welcome back Gene! Hope to hear of the Shaolin adventures soon.
thanks guys!
It’ll take me a bit to process it all. Honestly, I’m still processing stuff from previous trips. Shaolin is always like massive information download. But I hope to have something up on the website soon.
Hey Gene, glad your back safe:) .
Just wanted to tell you I enjoyed the Lou Reed issue of yall mag, their was good content with the hung articles, the yijinjing and especially the hopgar article, tho there wasn’t anything new infowise for me, it’s still nice to see some new pic’s!.
Overall good read, and i liked the fighting-intent? theme of the issue…maybe that’s not what your intention was with the issue, but i noticed a theme about fighting parrallel to each other within the differant articles…that make sence?
if not just nod and act like it did, peace
Where can i get more info on that canadian hung teacher?..can’t remember the name right now, Lore?.

More fighting intent!
Glad you liked that Diego. Thanks for your kind words. Actually I thought the coin/heaven and earth sub-theme was particularly amusing, but I’m glad you liked the fighting intent - it has been my big campaign lately to increase the fighting intent content of the magazine.
As for Sifu Lore, the author is a professor in Malaysia now, and I’m not sure that he still has contact. If you mail me a letter, I can forward it to that author and maybe he can help you.
Gene, Did you know that Shaolin was the birthplace of martial arts? just kidding
jun_erh
really? maybe i should put that in the next issue…
Gene-
Are you inferring there is something wrong with Deyang?
He’s still a pretty young guy isn’t he?
cheers

Welcome back Gene-- can’t wait to hear more about this amazing transformation. ![]()

no, no, no - Deyang is in fine health. In fact, he took me to a most delicious lunch with Shaolin master Geng Jun. Deyang had the pagoda built for his master, Suxi. Suxi is getting old and it’s tradition to honor a great monk by building a pagoda for him before he passes. Sadly, I didn’t get the chance to meet with Suxi this time, but I hear he visits his pagoda often and returns with a big smile each time.
Dug out of the archives
I ttt’ed this so I can add to it easily if I get the chance on my upcoming trip, but no promises. To be honest, I’m on computers every working day, so when I’m at Shaolin, it’s not ‘fun’ for me to go online. In fact, it’s a bit of a hassle.
If I get the chance, I’ll send a shout out here, but I’m going to be back so fast, it more for the gesture.
Gene, coming from Canada I know that it is very possible for two points in a country to literally be a week by bus away from each other. I still have not fully come to grasp how rapid inter-provincial transit is within China. About how long in hours/days is it to bus from Hangzhou to Dengfeng?
Gene,
It is becoming increasingly obvious that you don’t do the postcard thing. I hope that you are having a good time there.

Later…
SM: I don’t know. I’ve never been to Hangzhou and there are many levels of buses - public to private - which would affect the time.
m: Actually I do send postcards, just not to forum members. That would be a bit much too ask.

Lucky, I won’t get there for a few months after that. I start my TESOL course in a couple weekends and will start looking for work as soon as I have the certification (and my degree - end of December for that).
Sifu James Lore
For the Person who asked about Sifu James Lore.
You can get information about him from Glen Doyles site:
Greetings from Dengfeng
This event is amazing. I’ve only been getting about 3-4 hours of sleep a night and working every waking moment. I’ll be back next week for sleep and to report to y’all. Stay tuned…
