It works. And such techniques are to be used against strong opponent. You target their weak spots.

Instead of asking for opinions why not ask for evidence? Is there any evidence of it working?
Dim Mak (Dian xue) is badly misunderstood thanks to the mish mash of fairy tales and kung fu actuality.
Yes, if you strike the xyphoid process you will get results!
If you strike the Liver, more results!
If you strike the corner of the jaw, nice results!
If you strike the cleft of the jaw from the front, …results!
The rest is fairy tales. the practice shown in the clips is not an effective way to practice.
It is an effective way to market martial arts to the weak as opposed to letting them know what sort of work is really required to develop kung fu.
Just sell them the idea that they, in their weak, small, malnourished and unfit bodies can strike these dots and win against a monster!
It does NOT work like that.
Showing this as viable without the supporting materials is the mark of a huckster in my opinion.

Boxing shows that the chin, liver shots and so forth are useful targets. More important is being able to land solid shots with your body behind them against someone fighting you back. The most basic and most difficult of skills.
