I had wushu chicken the other day at the Golden Buddha restaurant. Not sure if it was traditional or contemporary though. :smiley:

You find the right person and they can show you actual application for any form.

Sure, it can be. I don’t find it much different than traditional styles that use lots of forms. Basically, every fighting technique you find in modern chang quan comes from traditional chang quan (like Zha Quan, Northern Shaolin, etc.). But if you never want to do any forms performance or competition you might as well take something like San Shou/San Da, Shui Jiao, MMA or maybe even a good traditional Chang Quan style (like Northern Shaolin, or Cha Quan). Heck, if fighting is your main interest, ignore all the names and just find a place where the student body actually spends time fighting :stuck_out_tongue:

Wushu (properly denoted as Chinese Government Wushu) can be thought of as the Science of the Borg as they wish to assimilate all other, kungfu, strip them of their technology and turn them into part of the soulless collective.

Kungfu may be thought of as the Federation, with it’s many heroes such as Janeway, Kirk and Picard.

Government Wushu may be thought of as the Machine City while kungfu can be thought of as Zion with heros such as Morpheus, Trinity and Neo.

Notice in the examples, Wushu (bureaucracy) has no real heroes only mean and evil assassins.

Or kungfu may be thught of as the Art of Wong Fei Hong and Wushu is the madness of the White Lotus Society or the corrupt Qing Dynasty.
