Cramp i n my back

Hi guys

When I spend any time punching the pad or bag I have started to get really bad cramp in my back. The effected muscles are the verticle ones that run up and down each side of the spine.

this is really irritating as it stops me breathing properly and …well i feel stuipd haveing to stop training in a class because i have a cramp!

I have tried to train though the cramp but it just gets worse till i havr to arch my back over to one side just to breath.

I think it started years ago when I did somthing stupid in the country side and ended up with a frozed back that i could not bend for several days. It has till now only ever been a small problem and never stoped me doing anything.

Anyone have any ideas as to what I can do about this?

Im wondering if streatching would work but im worried that it may make it worse.

cramps happen for a lot of reason, but many of them can be dealt with by simply keeping that muscle loose and warm. stretch it frequently, even when you’re idle, just to keep it naturally loose. and when you’re working out, stretch it before it starts to act up.

your back is one of the worst places you can be tight – for both your workouts and for your general health. stretch it regularly, but always, always sneak up on the stretch – don’t force it.
