Bruce Lee Documentary on

There is a Bruce Lee documentary on AMC right now. Just thought I’d let ya know.

I have this on DVD…it includes the HK rooftop clips of traditional martial artist fighting! VERY FAST…full contact!

what’s the name if that DVD?

Just watched it. That was fun!

Any of you guys know where to find more of these rooftop challenge matches clips? Where did they dig those up?

I taped it. IMHO alot of what Bruce did are Wing Chun principles.

The Game of Death…

The story is all clear now. Cool.

I can’t understand why they edited so much out & changed the story on the released version.

Had Bruce Lee lived this would have been his best movie…even better than Enter the Dragon.

Badger

Agreed, Badger. However, they did mention in the documentary portion that much of that footage was not known to exist until 6 years later, so I don’t think it’s a case of editting so much as working with what they thought was all of the footage, but was not.

It was awesome.

oh…

I guess i went to pee during that part…

Don’t forget about ‘the silent flute’ (circle of iron). That would have been a great movie with Bruce

I just found this for those who want the DVD:

Bruce Lee

I told ya so…

We actually covered this documentary 2 years ago. It was first shown to the public in SF at an event that I covered - http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/ezine/article.php?article=191

I did a review of the video in our March April 2001 issue http://store.yahoo.com/martialartsmart/kunmag20mari.html
It was one of the situations where I hoped to get the preview just prior to the release, but then the release was withheld for a year, so our timing was off. Anyway, check it out and see if I was right.

Gene

Do you sell the DVD at MA Mart???

Badger

The inteview and film clips were great but Game of Death looked like an awful movie in the making, though I liked the look of it. After having the image of Lee and Kareem going at it in my mind since way the heck when the actual fight was horrible. The fight with the Hapkido guy was almost good and I would have liked to see them really cross hands, and now we know why Dan Inosanto isn’t a big MA actor.

Was Bruce really that innovative?

I was watching that doc., many of the things Bruce said I had heard from another source already, those ideas have been around awhile, I think Bruce just popularized them a bit more. Oh, and Rich Mooneys one inch punch looks more impressive

Gazza…what Bruce talked about wasn’t really evolutionary…the idea of crosstraining wasn’t NEW. But to many CMA and PURE karate masters did not like a student of their going to train or even spar with other stylists! So back in the 60’s…it was kinda new. Like black kids playing with white kids type of deal. If Bruce didn’t speak up someone else would have!

good point

Yup, true enough…

We don’t sell it at this time. Maybe we should…

sell them
