I am looking to move to Taichung, Taiwan to live with my girlfriend's parents and study Chinese language. While there I'd like to continue studying martial arts and would like any assistance available as to quality teachers in Taichung. I have studied Chinese martial arts for the past eight years, studying Northern-Style Shaolin and Yi family-style Tai-Chi/Bagua. I am currently studying Cheng-style Bagua in Sacramento Ca. The lineage I study under is from Beijing, from Liu Xing-Han. I have found two schools: Chen Pan Ling and Cheng Ming School of Martial Arts.
If anyone has had experience with these schools, please pass on your reflections. If anyone knows of other qualified teachers, I'd appreciate this information very much. When I get to Taiwan again, I will research things there, but would like to have a "heads-up" before going.
He teaches an extremely functional combat Gao style. There are a number of his students here in the states, including Tim Cartmell who’s a senior student and spent 10 yrs with him.
Taoist Priest. I appreciate the reply. I went to You-Tube and watched some of the videos from Luo De Xiu. They were very well done. When just recently in Taipei I walked to Chiang Kai Shek memorial looking for Luo De Xiu’s students but did not see them. I will actually be about two hours by train south of Taipei and in Chinese classes so will not be able to head to Taipei. But after reading about him online and watching the videos I am regretting that this is so. If anyone knows of anyone in the Taichung area I’d like to hear about it.
Thank you for the referrals. If everything lines up, I should be in Taichung attending Feng Chia University by this coming Dec. 6th. So I’ll definitely check into the Wudang Club there as a resource.
