Its not what goes in a man that defile’s him, its what comes out.

Skar, there is a great bookstore on Dundas (southside) just east of Spadina that has a really good selection of Kung fu books from China.

Check it out. I 've picked up a few rare ones there.

hmmm, I thought I emailed you back already skarbro? I’ll send another one off though.

Kung Lek, are there any good kung fu things to be found in your neck of the woods? (winnipeg, western ontario, etc…) I’m talking books, weapons, lion dance equipment, etc…

Hey Paul.

I live in Toronto now and basically you can get just about everything and anything.

There’s a chinatown in Markham too and they have a huge mall with all sorts of stuff.

I walked into this one store and they had Lions hanging from the ceiling that were really quite nice. Two Lao Bei’s and a Guang Gong that was really cool. more in the back too.

Only $800 for the Guang Gong! Also had drums, cymbals, gongs, pants, buddha heads, etc.

For books there are a ton of manuals, some really old ones reprinted. Iron Palm manual in Chinese with photos from the early thirties giving the whole process.

All the Lam Sai Wing Books, Lee Koon Hungs Books, Eagle Claw, the Chin wu routines books, Wing Chun traditional and even Leung Tings books. Also military police Kung fu manuals, lots of Chi Kung manuals, five animals manuals from china and many more. A treasure trove for an enthusiast to be sure.

There’s also plenty of places to buy weapons of all sorts and plenty of other sundry items associated with Kung Fu.
There’s this one store on Spadina that has been having a “closing out” sale for more than a year hahahaha, 80% off on a lot of stuff. They have quite a few Gims for about 40$ made with Lung Chuan steel. As well they have a few broadswords of varying quality for cheap prices too.

There are two supply stores for martial artists on Yonge street out of Chinatown where you can get poles and spears and spear heads. One place called CKT has a selection of spear heads made from Carbon steel that are really wicked, real combat quality and throwing knives double daggers and all that good stuff. These stores are geared towards the commercial end of things and cater more to teh karate and TKD enthusiasts so the supply of KF stuff is always there  Wooden men too, Wing Chun, Choy Li fut and standard Mook Jongs, these are still pricy though at around 800 to over 1000 dollars.

The two Chinatowns have tons of stuff, but you do have to hunt around quite a bit.

It’s gonna be a long time before I get to see everything!

Cool, I’ll have to check out Ontario and Quebec then. Is there anything worthwhile in Winnipeg though?

hi Paul.

Winnipeg does not have much to offer in the area of CMA or Lion Dance supplies.

Plenty of Karate and Tae Kwon Do stuff though seeing as those are the biggest and most popular schools there.

There are hardly even any Kung Fu teachers there. Only mine, a couple of others and a couple of contemporary wu shu guys. The rest is all Karate and TKD, no disrespects to those arts, but that’s what people are most familiar with I guess all the more Kung Fu for the rest of us who know what the good stuff is

There is only one store for MA supplies, and only one decent apothecary in the whole city!

Here in T.O it’s like some kind of mecca for the martial arts in canada.

I’m pretty sure that you have access to more stuff between edmonton and Calgary than in the peg.

All of my teachers schools lion dance stuff came from Vancouver via the association. They may have brought it in from hong kong but i think that they got it from possibly Kuen Way ma supplies on Pender street in Van. That store has lots of terrific stuff. closer to you too.

their number is 604-682-3329 they’re at 28 east pender street in van. great store they have everything and anything you can think of in regards to weapons and lion dance supplies.

I think that between Vancouver and Toronto Chinatowns you can get pretty much anything you need without going out of the country and paying american dollars.

anyway, gotta go
