sifu andy knows his sh!t, but i teach in a different way. i get my message across differently to him. but we still teach similar concept and stuff.
are you telling me that you havent seen a teacher of your style teach differently and say hey, that was some good sh!t! it all depends on how and what you learn from people, but sifu andy is a very good kung fu master.
I understand what you mean. That comment was made in the same pargragh as my comments towards seeing some sifus who don’t live up to their claims. I did not refer that towards Andy , in that post I know it looked that way , thank you I was wondering if so meone would pick that up. FT often came to the school to share his knowledge and training methods, at the time I was studying Dragon, foot work is similar body posture etc and enjoyed the input from FT . After awhile I prefered his teaching a became interested in YKM so made to change. It wasn’t an easy decision to make as I’d been with Wahnam(schools name) for almost 4 years but I’ve never looked back. I’m glad I studied under Andy as I learnt a great deal. I started with Jow Gar Hung Gar and progressed to Dragon and alittle Pakmei . When I made the change FT told I would have to it the traditional way and ask Andy first , if he said no he would not train me , I asked and the rest is history. Does that clear it up abit for you?› ›
There is 3 Battles in Hung Kuen it resembles some fundamentals of Tit Sin Kuen (That is there also).
This is mainland china related.
Hung Gar that you refer to is Popular Hung Gar with the standard 4 pillars. Hung Kuen differs although it is still Hung Gar
Teachers believe that the following occurred with Hung Gar.
Hung Hei Gun studied with Chi San Sim See then left to join rebellion and rest involving red boats or whatever then Luk A Choy studied with Chi Sim (different to Hung Hei Gun as everyone was different). Something like then Luk a choy left to join hung but never really happened but people knew they were brothers, and respected him as so. Chi San had developed his art further as did hung hei gun, they met up after the destruction of sth shaolin but rather did live a hidden life away from the red boats. Luk a choy remained in that area and ended up with Wong Family. Wong family learned this and developed it wonderfully to the beauty that popular hung gar is today but hung hei guns is supposedly separate, thus the Hay say fu’s of Wing lam the Hung kuens of guangdong and the rest. It is thought that these other hung kuens belong to a shaolin kuen added and expanding hung hei guns. whereas those knowing hung hei guns original art would be luk a choy associates remaining on the red boats (ie the fundamental tiger taming sets).
Please note that many arts are called Hung Kuen even though they may be some other shaolin art.
to answer some questions that were asked.
i studied with andy close to 5 years ago, it was when he was teaching at the central coast, the only reason i stopped was because it was not economically viable for him to continue.
i did only jow gar .
he is one of the only sifus i have seen to not only be able to use such low stances in the forms but also when showing how to fight with them, most who train in these low stances actually end up looking moe like kickboxers when they spar or fight, also many of them will tell you that these stances are only for training but i think it has more to do with the fact that they just haven’t trained hard enough or long enough.
andy is a sifu almost beyond words, he is frienly, open to share & just one hell of a good guy that knows his .
illusion fist you may want to find his e-mail as his hung gar is of the hung hei kwan lineage & not the wong fei hong(try a search for wahnam kung fu) i am sure he would be glad to discuss his lineage with you as he very open & friendly.
if what bui ji says is true, that ft is as good as andy then i would argue that no matter how rude ft originally was it is a case that he must know his .

well his site says that he has 3 teachers Dragon, Bak Mei and Chow Gar.
Chow Gar being from Chow Biu, that is not Hung Kuen related and in fact damn it, it does have tiger and crane.
the site does not mention any hung gar/kuens of any kind!!!
i think you mean jow gar(chow gar is generally a reference to southern mantis?) & his site also doesn’t list that he knows a viet. version of wing chun either.
sometimes you have to know someone personally to have any idea of what they actually know.
take you for example- sometimes you reply like an f-wit but you may actually be a nice person, until we meet face to face we may never know.
do you now understand?

vingstun is correct, sifu andy has the oldest hung gar and jow gar, bak mei ,dragon and wing chun, i think he has some mok gar and hung fut as well so dont judge a book by its cover.
illusion fist should email sifu andy if interested in hung gar.
Wulin you are revered for your knowledge and skills!!!
hehe you are soo looked up to. Thats what you want right? RESPECT from the other members here? I do think you are prolly happy with all the attention you are getting. I can’t help myself as I have been amused with you since I first met you as what was it? Bak Fu Choy? So many I can’t keep up. But once again thanks for the amusement
