I think people shouldn’t waste time wondering about whether Wing Chun can handle this or that. The best is to study the art you are wondering about and then you can find the answer.

Also - a solid martial arts background before learning wing chun, along with pretty serious ‘cup emptying’ is a good thing for one’s wing chun. Less time spent worrying what ‘the other guy’ is up to in mma class, more time concentrating on wing chun development.
Be careful with the dancing - certainly steer well clear of ballet. I couldnt recommend Judo strongly enough for kids. Oh, and get them started on a musical instrument nice and young!
