Thanks Prana. ![]()
I enjoyed your post, I read through them. Donāt think Iām disputing you at all, just adding some views that others may be able to understand a little better, thatās all.
Iām not ānon-buddhistā in faith. Much of my faith is very buddhist. I just got back from a Mahayana temple just a few minutes ago actually LOL! But because of philosophy, and my questioning nature of people, religion, human experience, and the mysteries of mind, thought, and beyond, Iāve traveled a lot and have taken in many various views.
I pull a lot of my faith in things from Buddhism, but not just Vajrayana, but also Theravada, Mahayana, Nicheren, etc.
But not only those either. I pull from Christianity, Judaism, Taoism, as well.
Hmmmā¦this may sound like Iām ākangaroo hoppingā but Iām not saying that.
ā¦Hmm The best way for me to say it would be that I consider myself very religious, but constantly mindful of not just myself, but the beliefs of those religions as well.
Too many religions fight each other and insult the other without looking at the beautiful messages that each are truly trying to inscribe. I guess I consider myself Buddhist since I take refuge in the Dharma, Buddha, and Sangha, BUT I also can be considered Christian as well since I consider Christ the āson of Godā (True Bodhisattva) But if I get into it itāll take way too long to explain, and my mind is a bit tired after a long drive to the temple, so⦠I digress. ![]()
Mainly that the core of many religions can be seen in a āphilosophicalā light. If thereās anything I believe, it is that philosophy makes religion very functional.
Take care,
Ryu
