After ten years of hiatus, have felt that this has been the only legit surviving kungfu discussion platform on the web.
Mainly due to Gene’s superb fairness as moderator.
I was lured to facebook kung fu groups, but invariably these all turned into ：
a) money making schemes to gather up users, shilling shitty books or online courses
b) the ultimate narccism supply and power game by kicking and banning people for fun, and setitng up all kinds of weird and restrictive rules to feel powerful and control.
these facebook groups initially started off by directly pulling people from kung fu magazine; many active posters were messaged and convinced to jump ship. Also aftre a few years the various narccists have eaten their fill and their groups are slowly imploding, or filled with bots.
but digital age content saturation is now through the roof and this is the last bastion of real kung fu, the last oasis in the sand.

Definitely learned a hard lesson about social media vs formal publishing platform. A lot of social media groups go off-track or lose steam because the organizers become satisfied ego wise with the small echo chamber. It seems to be just a continuation of the dying off of modern kung fu; the kwoons disappear in real life and all that remains are ghost whispers on the web, clamoring for the last bits of power and grandiosity. But mainly the issue seems to be extreme information saturation and lack of web searchability.
People have been talking about Kung Fu dying off for centuries. I think that’s mostly nooBs who are just learning what a niche we are… for centuries. 
guess it just keeps getting resurrected like frankenstein… weeeeeooooooeeeeooooo
Coincidentally, I just watched del Toro’s new version of Frankenstein. I enjoyed it, especially the angel visions.
But back on topic - the funny thing about KF whiners is that it’s more of a blame game, more like ‘nobody is preserving the real stuff,’ when they could be preserving it themselves instead of bumming everyone else out with their whining, ya know?
