WOW!
That almost brought tears to my eyes. That video was not just about authentic kung fu, but also about decades of love, dedication and training. Thanks for posting. ![]()
PS. I bet this master could wipe the floor with any 70 year old glorified kickboxer. ![]()

life started at 70 Y.O.
I do not know if I may make it that far.
but
some of the good fighters died young, a lot of wear and tear, I guess.

Ok, I give up now.

Just thinking about TCMA and I remembered this clip. Isn’t the point to be able to live well even in old age? I mean this guy’s still doing cartwheels and I betcha his memory is sharp too. Using this clip as reference - TCMA wins.
Respect!

Is forms training the best way to spend your training hours when you are old? Do you suppose to do something “special” and “unique” when you are old?
seems to have worked for that guy.
i bet i can kick his ass.
When you are 90 years old, you should have understand all the moves in your form. That form no longer add any value to your daily training.

Except that he’s still moving well - and he’s still flexible -
Think the forms add a lot of value to his daily training especially in the areas of mental clarity and physical dexterity. I hope that I can still move that well when I hit that age.

When you get old, you no longer be able to train 4 hours daily. You have to reduce your training hours. That mean you have to reduce or stop some of your favor training. What will you reduce or stop? Let’s go through the following list, examine each training, and decide which training is “must”, which training is “nice to have”, and which training “can be stopped”.
- Running (must) - You will still need this ability to run away from fat cops.
- Heavy bag work out (must) - You will still need this to knock down your 20 years challengers.
- Weight training (must) - You will still need this to keep your bone strong and body fit.
- Door guarding skills (must) - You need to train this daily for life and death situation.
- Power generation (nice to have) - If you still don’t have good Fajin, the chance that your Fajin will be improved is very unlikely.
- Open hand forms (can be stopped) - Forms are not for training in the 1st place.
- Weapon training (can be stopped) - It’s very unlikely that you will carry your 80 lb Guan Dao to your next challenge fight.
What will be your choice when you have reached to your “medicare” age?
at that age, i believe it would be quite unrealistic to consider any thought of combat training. past a certain point, it becomes about keeping fit in old age…and forms seem to have done it for this guy.
this guy is nothing compared to that uechi ryu karate guy 110 years old and full of muskle.
Hell, I don’t move like that and i’m half his age!![]()
