What does that last post have to do with anything? The description above at the top of this page sounds like you’re talking about tricep dips while the thread is about push ups. Can you address that point first, please?
Here you go BL, just so you know what’s being discussed:
A pushup is when you lie on the floor, face-down, hands near the shoulders, feet close together. Then, while supporting your body off the floor with only hands and tip-toes touching, you push yourself up until your arms are straight. You then lower yourself again 'til your chest touches the floor and repeat as often as you like. There are variations on this basic theme, but THAT is the regular pushup.
:rolleyes: :rolleyes:
what I’m describing is similar to dip, but instead of the follow through and elbow bending, it’s a release of the spine / and or hips to loose and weightless, allowing weight to become dead and correcting kinks etc. Spine alignment matters.
Carbs, complex carbs are extremely relevant and I may be way off on this specific off-shoot , but I’m planning to investigate the compostion etc of ballistic fluid, because I think that and glycogen are all factors. Please feel free to post any info on ballistic sacks if you have any ( and so we are 100 % clear, no, I don’t mean ballistic as in off the wall / raving sad sacks
)
cheers
ROFLMAO! She’s baaaaaack! I knew she couldn’t stay away for long!

And after all that insistence that ‘no, she’s not talking about dips, she’s talking about pushups’ we find out that yes, she really was talking about dips afterall (but then we had already figured that out for ourselves)! LOL! ![]()
I am talking about the beginning phase of a dip as a spine alignment for your pushups. And thank you. I missed you too.

Mine’s kinda wrinkly and hairy. Ohhh, you mean ballistic sacks :D.
May I ask what a ballistic sack is?
Aaaah, just call it a ball’ sack!

ballistic sacks are the fluided sacks between our joints. When you crack you knuckles or whathave you, the sound you hear is the sack busting and then the bone click. Obviously, just like when you lick your lips to much and get drier faster, if you do this too often your body will begin to produce less and you may end up grinding bone on bone. I do believe there is a connection between it and glyocgen and certain other enyzmes though, and I also believe the quality and amount has something to with endurance. May be wrong, but I’m going to check that out anyway.
Ballistic Sacks???
Synovial Joint(or Diarthroses) is a freely moveable joint characterised by the presence of articular cartilage (covering surface of bones that articulate)and the articular capsule which houses synovial fluid and membrane.
In short Cracking sounds from synovial joints are caused by drops in pressure and gas bubbles (produced when fluid evaporates) within the synovial membrane.It does not mean the membrane has raptured.
Rheumatoid Arthritis is caused by the inflamation of the synovial membrane which results in the membrane thickening and fluid accumulation.There is no conclusive studies to show that “cracking” of synovial joints contributes to RA.
Never heard it described as Ballistic Sacks.
and the fluid that evaporates wouldn’t bbe from a ballistic sack for all its’ simple terminology would it?? nor the drop in pressure be beacuse the sack was pierced and respective pressure released? Ballistic sacks are all I’ve commonly heard them called, but I’m not convinced we’re talking about the same thing, and for the reason that if sonovial fluid and membrane is only particular to free moving joints ( and how are you defining that?) , and I know there to be two joint types in a body basically ball and socket and hinge, I’m just not sure I see your understanding. Perhaps the Ballistic sack houses the fluid and membranes. Otherwise, we’re probably on different tracks.

No as the bubble is not “pierced”.When a difference of pressure occurs the bubble collapses (producing the crack) into smaller bubbles which gradually disseminate back into the synovial fluid.

Thats a little Know then;)
Joints= Synarthrosis (Immovable)Amphiarthrosis (Slightly Moveable)Diarthrosis (Freely Moveable)
Diarthroses are usually divided into 6 subtypes
Gliding, Hinge, Pivot, Ellipsoidal, Saddle and Ball and Socket.If you where taught only 2 types then I think thats a representation of the knowledge of your instructors.

Yeah
Well I think I even spelt everything right so sort of proud of that.
I’m talking at a basic level of terminology. Forget it. I’m just not doing another pointless discussion for 1 week minimum.
Ps: maybe we were on the same track after all - semantics aside. :eek: ![]()

( sighs)…
where did you say you studied?? One of the very few things I remember from my very first fitness leaders course way way back. No it’s not a phd., but it has been supported ny other things along the way, and now , thanks to boys here, and the Chinese Army soldier and orthopedic surgeon I met recently, I am now inspired to take one on the way to my medical degree. ( but after some more native gongfu ;)
)
Still, to agree to disaggree is just fine. Better than " hey nancy boy, stfu"… " no you stfu 'cause your typing SUX!!! and so on… we both have our logic and that’s that.

I don’t think naming my University will help you understand what I have said.(UNSW)

So now your going to do a medical degree, eh?
depends on how you want to define “martial”. Taking capoeira I need to work on my upper body strength and endurance. I can lift a lot of weight but holding it up there for long periods and moving it around with just my shoulders, achest and arms gets tiring.
Have you tried extended V-sits? This always seems to help me with my arm endurance.
As for pushups I dont know if its just a mental thing if you can do 50 and 50 within short rests, I mean, are you completely nackered when u get to 50 each time that you cannot lift any more?
what’s an extended V Sit?
When I get to 50 my body won’t move anymore. I get to about 43-45 and I can feel the muscles just lose the drive and by the time I get to 50 I’m struggling to get up.
I’ve never done more than 40. I do some pushups, but never more than 20. I’m always trained up to the max in other exercises and don’t have the interest in them to try to build up the reps.
Hey Red! Dude! I got it! ![]()
Next time you get to 50, don’t stop…
:rolleyes: ![]()
