I’m still working on putting a good training system together, but at this point I just practice forms for an hour each morning in addition to my classes 3 times a week. Other than san ti and circle walking, I don’t do too many exercises to build myself up, so I’m looking for some ideas here.
How do you train internally? What is your internal training regiment?
I begin with an excersise to spread energy throughout the body for a few minutes , after this i move to lifting the sky for a short while, followed by embracing the tree and abdominal packing breathing, which lasts for at least 100 breaths.
Next I begin with my kidney strengthening excersises. followed by excersises to open and strengthen the dai mai the meridian that runs around your belly dantien kidneys (the belt channel).
After this i practise my throat head and eyes improving excersise.
I then do my iron body chik kung which is more stances followed by a lot of lifting the sky, followed by tai ji form 2 times ,ending with the excersise i statt with that sends energy all round the body
Do you do other things besides forms and push hands to supplement your training?
SOME EXTERNAL KUNG AND PUNCHING MY PUNCHINBAG USING THE ART OF THIRTY PUNCHES
Do you practice your form in the morning and at night and push hands when you can?
AT NIGHT MOSTLY 90% OF THE TIME AND HARDLY ANY PUSHING HANDS
Do you weight lift or use any type of strength trainging (push-ups, chin-ups, sit-ups etc.)?
NOPE
Do you run, jog, or walk?
ERM I THINK EVERYONE WALKS< EXCEPT FOR THE UNLUCKY DISABLED AMONG US.
I AM THE OFFICIAL KUNG FU TROLL FROM NOW UNTIL I GET BANNED AHAHAHAHHA…MWAHAHAHAHAH.HEHEHEHE <insert evil laugh here>
I have often wondered this myself. I have looked in books, talked to teachers and gotten lots of vague or contradictory answers.
I do forms 6-7 days a week. I vary which form I do depending on the day. I don’t want to forget anything. I usually practice about 1.5 hours of forms a day. I do push hands once or twice a week I am trying to increase this though.
I have found the practicing the forms in the early morning does not work for me. I usually feel so relaxed and peace that I want to go back to bed!!
I usually do body weight exercises (push-ups, chin-ups, sit-ups etc) and running in the morning.
I usually try to meditate over the lunch hour for about 5-15 minutes depending on how it goes. I have just started doing all this again. I used to do this in college and loved it. That whole getting a job and living thing screwed that up though. I struggled with what kind of routine to set up for myself for a long time. This is working now and I will probably try to vary it in about 4-6 weeks.
I do silk reeling about 3 times a week and I try to do cat walking every day. I practice the forms in the moring a couple of times. then do some chi kung. I havent learned push hands yet so I dont no how many times to practice them. each day I try to do half of the applications I know.
Some kind of review midday or early afternoon for 1 hour. On cool days power training (spiral push-ups, spear or heavy tube).
Xinyi Liuhe Quan a couple of evenings a week with at least one session of 4-Corners (two person drills).
Yinfu Baguazhang every evening for 2 hours, except when I teach Qigong on Wednesdays.
As well there are the classes that I teach, Fu Zhensong Baguazhang, medical Qigong, Yang Taijiquan for medical students.
These are weekdays. On the weekends its cannon fist and applications. The indoor students work out with our teacher at the gym on Saturday mornings, where we may get up to anything. Sunday is for rest, we only do 2 hours of Chen.
Repeat.

I cram my nuts IN the bowling ball, haha. My training differs day to day. One day it is tai chi, one day it is bagua. I always do some type of chi gung(mostly posting, buddha palm, and other assorted ones that sifu teaches) along with forms, bagwork, weapons, and basic techniques.

Practicising about between 3:00 am and 5:00 am tradtionally and from a Chinses Medicine point of view was the best time for internal work as these hours relate to the Chinese clock and are the hours where the Lungs are at their strongest, energy/Qi wise. Thus one can implement Zong Qi with greater efficacy in their practice.
If I get up early enough I will do the long form once. If I’m lucky 3-4 times throughout the day but it’s more like once in the aftenoon.
Great responses and thanks for the ideas (except for the bowling balls.) I’m really busy (gettin’ hitched and all) but as soon as time permits I’m steppin’ up the regiment. Wai Lun Choi here I come!
We’re talking about my internal training, not my sisters.
