Yes, I’m still laughing. Add this one to our collection.

Iron

OH MY!!

Wow Iron, that is truly an incredibly put to good use bunk bed frame!! And it still has the child’s superman logo attached! And I think the concrete tri-cornered hat makes a smashingly good base! I don’t think it would ever tip over!!

ook

the sad thing is that someone actually bid on it.

guys, i don’t know whether to laugh about this or cry at the fact that this person is grouped in the same taxonomic kingdom as we are. :frowning:

‘innovative’ wooden dummy design

Hi - i’m just new to the list, but thought i would share some experiences with you all.

I was at a UK martial arts event, and looking at Wooden Dummies, having a play on them etc. (Kwan Sau, Gan Sau, Huen Sau…). Various people asked me to look at their ‘dummies’ - at first it was the PVC flat bodies one, which i thought was strange.
Then there were others…

  • a dummy like the one mentioned above
  • a dummy that you can suspend like a floor-to-ceiling speedball (elastic attatched top and bottom)!
  • a dummy that you can wrap around a punbag!
  • a ‘kids’ dummy, made with foam around the arms and thin body…

i thought they were all very ‘interesting’ and enjoyed watching all these karate ppl trying their ‘skills’ on them

thanks,
david

Karate guys and their dummies…

Dezhen2001-

I think its funny you mention karate folks whacking on the dummies.

I remember when the same guy above (at www.superwoodendummy.com / surfdealer7 on eBay), first started selling this “rare item” with an “amazing design”- he was wearing a white karate gi and a black belt. The picture was classic- a karate guy whacking on a stick with a superman logo sticker! Plus the description that follows! Talk about rolling on the floor, laughing my ahem off!

PS- This is your dummy

This is your dummy tripping out on drugs / LSD and other narcotics

A wooden dummy is a terrible thing to waste!

Peace!
Mokujin

Mokujin - nice pics man

u know, i think it’s quite funny to watch ppl who don’t do wing chun/jkd try to use the dummy. Really there is no point because it is not meant for their skill - so they do things nothing like they are taught. I remember in my ‘good old’ karate days we used to hit a makiwara, but there’s no real reason to need a dummy with ‘arms’.

Thankfully i’m not ‘ready’ for the dummy yet though. i did a seminar with my Sifu and Sigong, just so i could see what it was like - far to difficult for me! I’ll just stick (no pun intended) to standing still doing SLT - the whole movement thing is far too hard :stuck_out_tongue:
