Sifu Marquis Lung
I won’t profess that I am an expert on his brand of Northern Shaolin but he does have a farily successful school that has been around in Vancouver for quite sometime. His students seem good, I have seen them at several demos as well as local competitions (which they seem to be reasonably successful at).
Sifu Marquis Lung from my very limited exposure to him seems like a very sincere & positive gentleman. He also works, I believe, as a high school councilor for troubled youth.
If you are interested in Northern Shaolin there are also other teachers in Vancouver such as Danny Ma (son of Ma Kinfung) @ www.kinfungkungfu.com as well as Jun Ng @ www.northernshaolin.ca both are reputable instructors. A classmate of Sifu Marquis Lung can also be found in the Richmond area named Eric Lui (sorry don’t have web address).
Hope this helps!

Just for the record my Sifu’s name is spelled Jun Ing @ http://www.northernshaolin.ca we have videos on our website…clips are over a year old & we are a relatively new club still developing.
This is a good sample of differnet schools from Vancouver, its footage from John Funk’s 2005 Tiger Balm International,

NShaolin,
Just so you know…4:22mins into the video is a student of Marquis Lung doing a fan set. This particular student is one of Marquis Lung’s strongest in my opinion, and a fan might be fattering consider the power he is capable of while the fan is more of a soft swift weapon.
Satori Science,
Awesome video thank you so much!!! Did you compete at the tournament?
I didn’t get a chance to go but I would love to see more clips if possible. Thx!
Tiger Balms
Yes actually I was there in 05, I took two silvers one in forms and one in fighting.
My Brother is Sifu Josh Schafer a disciple of Jonh Funk’s, he invited me to join him and it was a great time. I’ll be back again this year with any luck.
I’m from the Bak Hsing Kwoon (Bak Hsing Fut Gar) my Sifu and SiGung are actually both from Vancouver and I like to get out there when I can. Unfortunatley I’m starving student,
check these links out, there is more on the way to be sure.

Congrats on your wins! Can you post of some vids of you???
Bak Hsing Kwoon…is that like Buk Sing CLF…I think I’ve seen some vids of you guys doing both CLF and Shaolin sets right?
I use to do a little CLF but now I am doing traditional Northern Shaolin.

This is the guy I was talking about before! This was over a year ago and he has gotten a lot better so the video doesn’t do him justice.

Here is his brother doing Shaolin#4. I heard he’s suppose to be one of the best of their school.
re: Iron & Silk
I will try and have some vid of myself up after newyears, I’m nursing a sore knee right now. But Sihing and I are supposed to do braodsword vs. spear at the Banquet in town.
Glad you liked the vids, like I said there will be more coming when I can find time in between homework(s)
Yes in our family (Bak Hsing Fut Gar) of Bak Hsing Kwoon (Bak Hsing CLF) we play traditional CLF sets without any high kicking and we play a whole littany of differnt long fist shaolin. In our lineage we have both systems directly from Tam Sam and Master Ku.
Getting to gether would be great, you should try and make the tournament this year, even just as a volunteer. Its hardly like working, and is one hell of a gung fu weekend. I would love to see how you play your shaolin.
cheers,
