I was wondering if any of the chinese speaking memebers of the page could help me translate a phrase I read. I was just wondering what the words “chahng fu” meant as I think it relates to a kung fu tecnique; but I am very likely to be wrong, and quite embarassed if I bring it up the wrong way. Any help would be greatly apprciated, and thanks in advance.
You are probably refering to the choy lee fut technique that is derived from chaang mah(the spade stance). The word foo is “tiger”, therefore pressing/spade the tiger kick.
The technique is where one delivers the jumping/slanting side thrust kick to the knee or thigh area. The technique delivers maximum penetration through the target and follows through completely into the chaang mah, or spade stance.
There are a few other basic setups and variants, but that is the main one.
