This is the part where you all tell me congratulations and stuff!
Seriously, I’m just a little excited about it… the blue belt doldrums are where a lot of people stagnate. Very few purples compared to the number of blues floating around.
Congratulations Merryprankster!!! Keep it up, and you will have your black belt in no time. And maybe soon, you too will be able to kick the holy h3ll out of Ralek!
No dogs to choke… I did have to run the line though. 30 or so minutes with a new guy every 2 minutes… you start with the newest white belt so by the time Lloyd gets you, you’re burned out…
not that it matters
After Purple are brown and black.
There are only 5 belts in BJJ–white, blue, purple, brown, black. I don’t know if they call them “dans.” We tend not to use the Japanese terminology.
Ryu–oddly enough I’m MUCH better at BJJ than I ever was at wrestling. My takedowns were never very good, and once they figure that out in college, they take you down for two and let you back up for one. Even if your counterwrestling is good (mine is) they are bound to get you once in awhile. It doesn’t take long to lose that way
lots of people line up single file, the person in the front turns around. From there, a couple of versions;
The guy turned around in the front must defend against a specific attack from the person in front of him with a specific response
The guy turned around in front must defend against any attack fro the person in front of him with any response
The guy turned aroudn in front must defend against a specific attack with any response.
When the attack and self defense technique have been completed, the person in fron moves to the back, and the next guy comes up. Try to move through the line as fast as humanly possible.
