Rene Ritchie-question

Rene, I tried to e-mail you this, but it was returned by the mailer demon- I was wondering, are there any school of Wing Chun that include Sam Chien Kuen in their curriculum? It would seem that since there is a strong kinship with Fukien White Crane, that somewhere along the line a school would have it. I personally love this set and find it an invaluble tool for training. What are your views on this?

Sorry, I changed my email address because of excessive spam. You can find similar names to Saam Jin/Sanjian/Three Battles/Three Arrows in some WCK branches but not the same set. WCK seems to have decomposed and resequenced the source material (of which White Crane was likely a part, as there are annecdotal references and well known White Crane boxers on the Red Junk), and developed its own methodology.

All i wanted was some RICE CAKES! Now? WE MUST BATTLE.

okay, which styles have these sets? Are there any resources with info, or any way I can see them?Thanx again

Gulao WCK has a Saam Jin Choi (Thee Battles Punch), which is a short San Sik (Seperate Form - a few linked techniques). Both Pao Fa Lien and Cho Ga WCK have Jin Jeung (Arrow Palm) and Jin Kuen (Arrow Fist). I haven’t seen the PFL versions but the Cho versions look something like White Crane.

I’m not sure where you can see them. Most rare branches of WCK are that way because they tend not to demonstrate outside their system. About the only way is to hope they eventually document it, or make friends with someone from the branch.

Rgds,
