when did ku yu cheong live and die?
few more Qs
do you know how old he was when he killed the horse?
did he stay only in northern china?
The horse story would put him between 34 and 38 years old.
The story goes that he did this in either 1928 or 1931 from what I have learned. there are a couple of different versions of the story also. One states he slapped the russian’s horse and it died a few days later, the other says he stroked the horse and it died a few days later.
He was a soldier in the Nationalist Army, so he probably wasn’t always in the north (Guandong).
When Chairman Mao had him executed in 1952 during the cultural revolution he was in the North as far as I have learned about him.
This is all second and third hand information. Take it for what it is.
There is information about him from his direct lineage as he has direct relatives who to this day teach Bak Sil Lum all over the world.
Use your search engine to find more stories about him. He definitely has a colourful and legendary life story and is remembered as one of the Great masters of chinese martial arts no doubt about that.
Also, you may find further information about Kyu Yu cheong by directly asking any one of the numerous Chinese Nationalist associations that exist all over the world.

Wongsifu,
Didn’t you get mad on another thread about Shi Yan Ming, another PRC martial artist, defecting from “the people” (as you put it)? Perhaps life in the PRC can get a little unsafe for those who fall out of favor with the Party and their views on what a martial artist should say or do?
Makes a little more sense now, eh? ![]()
Admittedley, I know nothing about Ku Yu Cheong or Shi Yan Ming.
I don’t get mad.
I get stabby.
