Illegal Fight Clubs
True, and not just in MMA. In Teddy Atlas’ book he talks about a young Mike Tyson doing them before he started his amateur career.
More then likely why some refer them to be called Backwater Matches, No vids.
Understand now.

No, not the same at all. The smokers are not illegal, the gym holding them invites the trainers from the gyms he wants there. Atlas had problems at first because they felt he was lying about Tyson’s real age. Tyson was VERY large for his age. The trainers and the guy holding them matchup the guys by age, experience, weight, etc. They are not free-for-alls. The smokers are often taped, it’s a good chance for trainers to see how their fighters perform in an actual fight in front of a crowd. These ‘backwater’ fights are as real as the Kumite. BS stories told by a liar.

Read Atlas’ book. It’s titled Atlas - From the Street to the Ring: A Son’s Struggle to Become a Man. He talks of the smokers in there.
Hey, I’m a publisher. I make my living on the newsstands with a niche magazine. If sensationalizing is the only way I can keep this mag and site going, it’s a necessary evil. Remember, I brought you the iron crotch (as if anyone here could ever forget). That was good for a couple of years of sensationalism - it paid for lots of other less popular things.

Truth be told, I’m hoping to start a new thread about illegal fights here. I suspect that, just like the MMA & Steroids thread, we’ll be seeing more of these. I’m just finding a tidy place to put them.
Talk about brutal honesty… I love it!

I guess I would clean up at these backwater matches.

Underground fights happen. Just no way like Hollywood or these ‘underground champs’ would have you believe. You go ahead and believe guys like Frank Dux and Rudy Abel, I’ll believe guys like Teddy Atlas.

And I disagreed with Mr Fox saying that smokers were just like these ‘Backwater fights’, just with a different name. They are not same by any stretch of the imagination.
I guess I would clean up at these backwater matches.
Of course you would. You already beat the Ultimate Underground Backwater No-Video Fighting Champion!
I guess I would clean up at these backwater matches.
LOL, maybe if you were taking the bets and not fighting you might clean up.

Did I say I believed in Frank Dux..NO Did I mention Rudy..no It could just his choice of words, calling it a Backwater match. Just as illelgal as I said about pitbull fighting or c.o.c.k fighting. You have a bad habit of bring up Rudy alot, when none says anything about him. I can call them Backwater matches as well. I never said it was like Hollywood either did I?
Or on Indian land like they do up here, or should I say DID, past tense, these things don’t happen here anymore, oh no and the HA are NOT behind them at all, nope.
Go on with your lives people, nothing to see here.
yes it does so happen…just not in Ontario. lol That’s because dalton and his girls are the biggest puss’s in the universe. (same guy who wanted to tax fast food because his own kid was getting fat, talk about out of touch and the ponce still get elected! anyway…)

You gotta go to Alberta to fight casino style..or montreal to get pwned in a crappy decision by a blind francophone ref. hahaha.
LOL, maybe if you were taking the bets and not fighting you might clean up.:)
Are you saying I can’t fight? :frowning:

You believe in this junk. It’s a RARE thing. Very rare. And Rudy is the first person to use the term ‘backwater’, and you call it that too. That’s how he got brought up FYI. They are illegal, you are correct there.

Do you still think they are the same thing as a smoker?

Indeed. The more various governments choose to make criminals of ring fighters the more you will see it coming up. the province I live in makes prize fighting of any sort 100 illegal.

In my opinion, it is more of an inability for many people to face what they really are, which is of course “humans”. And humans fight. god forbid!

however, I would say the guy was a bonehead for not having any med folks on sight. That was a remarkably stupid thing to do.

I was just using that word as an example…If there is no medical staff and they charge admission then it is what I believe to be Illegal, as well as underground fighting for a buck.

Your husband still did not know what a smoker was.

Actually it has to do with Cheung and his control of Sports Ontario, but that is another horse all together.
The excessive rules governing full contact in Ontario were in place before Dalton and his lackeys.
Are you saying I can’t fight? :(
LOL that depends on who you are fighting. Asia you lose, Omega you lose, 1bad you win..lol;)
Your husband still did not know what a smoker was.
Maybe not, but did you know what a backwater match was?
LOL that depends on who you are fighting. Asia you lose, Omega you lose, 1bad you win..lol;)
Right…

Guess I’ll stick to being a white belt in BJJ.
Maybe not, but did you know what a backwater match was?:D
Your husband is the one saying he is going to be entering the world of MMA. If he has no idea what a smoker is he has no business doing so.
