Forgot to mention.
The question came about when I looked at some applications that we were taught.
We have one where we apply a hook hand underneath the opponents Chin/Jaw.
Now the Wrist/back of Hand would be hard, and I think the same for Chin/Jaw.

Well, it’s only a rule if you make it a rule. Regardless, my answer is, yes..
Yes, I’ve always boggled over this rule. It seems to me you’re much better off attacking the ‘hard’ skull and ribs with a ‘hard’ palm heel; and the ‘soft’ abdomen and ears with the ‘soft’ percussion palm. The other way around seems to yield dubious results.
palm/knuckles against skull/ribs=good, not teh same for abs/muscle tissue, not to say it wouldn’t work
