Hi,

Anybody know the names of the 10 current Grandmasters recognized by the PRC?

There was actually a list of 100. Then the 100 had the top 10…but this list was pared down to only those in residence in China.

Originally, the distinction of resident in China was made because one or two people were nominated based upon popularity in movies…and they were not considered the type to be on the list.

This residency idea knocked one or two of the people who were in the top 10 off of the list since they had retired to a different country to be closer to family that had emmigrated.

So…take the list with a bit of grain of salt. They are all well respected but may not really be the best of the best.
