Goodbye George

“Harrison died on Thursday at a friend’s Los Angeles home, at 1330 local time, according to his longtime friend Gavin De Becker.”

Another idol of my youth passes.

Sad news. :frowning:

I’ll try to rent TIME BANDITS today in his memory. :frowning:

I don’t get mad.
I get stabby.

He was a good and quiet man. As he said so well “All things must pass”

The first time I heard Abbey Road, I was blown away by his guitar work. Octopus Garden, Something, Here Comes the Sun… all great stuff.

He struck me as a truly good person. Much more so than the others.

The guitar on Something, was played by his good bud Eric Clapton, same with While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Harrison played on some of Claptons songs in return though, Jeep comes to mind.

I just realized who Harrisons long time friend was, Gavin de Becker writer of The Gift of Fear.

“It’s all in the mind” ~ George in Yellow Submarine

The passing of George Harrison has me sad today. Alas, I’m an aging hippie… Tomorrow I have an advisory board meeting with the Haight-Ashbury
Free Medical Clinic, then I’m doing some volunteer work at a benefit for the Rex Foundation, so my weekend will be packed with mourning with other aging hippies. I never saw Harrison play (nor John, but I’ve seen the other two), but I went to study yoga in Rishikesh,India where the Beatles studied. I stayed in another ashram than the one they did - theirs was way off the beaten path and I never found it. The day I went searching for it, I was surrounded by wild monkeys deep in the forest, so I retreated. But that seems like a long time ago now too.
