Isn’t it related to Greenoche?
MonkeySlap Too i never heard of that word so i dont know if your serious or not but all i can find out about this style is …Master Liu Xue-Bo was the head of Fan-Zi-Chuo-Jiao (one of the most well-known Northern-Style Wushu {Kungfu} in China). Chuo-Jiao with its unique and variety of deadly footskills combined with the advantage of the fast hand actions of the Fan-Zi styles makes this a particularly lethal combination and uniquely beautiful style. Master Liu is a cornerstone in this uniquely famous style in China’s wushu community and is particularly well known and in high demand.
i cut and pasted that from this site here http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~taiji/xuebo.html
thats all i can find on the net
Hi, I began to learn this style about 2 months ago. Its chuojiaofanzi quan. A combination of chuojiao (“the mother style”), cunshou fanzi, xiao fanzi, da fanzi, yanqing fanzi, ditang and more.
Lots of hand and weapon sets; strong shenfa, lots of leg techniques (almost always combined with hands though); short jing; stress on zhanzhuang practice etc etc..
Master of the style (and my teacher’s teacher)- Hong Zhitian recently released a set of 12 vcds about chuojiaofanzi. They’re very good realy. You can order those vcds through Jarek’s site:
http://homepages.msn.com/SpiritSt/xinyi/index.html
There was one japanese page with chuojiao mpegs (not chuojiaofanzi) worth seeing but I cannot find them anymore. You may try to search japanese pages with traditional chinese arts.
You may also go there:
http://neijia.anu.edu.au/1999/99-01/0049.html
and find some interesting info (not too much) about the style.
Hope it helps.
Is chuojiao the same as shuai jiao (chinese wrestling, throws and stuff)??
No, different things. Chuo (poke, pierce) jiao (foot).
Ok, here’s what I got:
There is a style called Chuo-Jiao-FanZi-Quan created by Hao Mingjiu (1853-1940) from Chuo-Jiao. Chuo-Jiao Quan is a style that is supposed to date back to the Song, but apparently can only be traced back to a certain Zhao Canyi, a revolutionary who participated in the Taiping rebelion. This man was also an expert in Fanzi-quan (also called bafan quan).
So either this style is from Hao, either it is from Zhao, who could as well have mixed both styles, being expert in the two. Chuo jiao is known for its richness in leg technique (it also bears the name of mandarin duck kick or “treasure of the northern leg”). There’s a signature back split kick found in many longfist forms (I love that kick!!). I don’t know much about Fanzi quan, except that if I remember correctly large whipping movements of the scapula are employed a la pigua (although different)
It’s not much, hope that helped a little…
Crimson Phoenix and taaigihk , Thanks for the help!!
