I 'm Never Sparring bear footed again! I stubbed my toe 3 Times tonight. Fuk!
You know I usually don’t either but I have a pair of Fairtex Mauy Thai shin guards that just don’t quite fit over my shoes…Yet.
I hope my toe isn’t broken.

Hi.
Depends on where I am.
In the Kwoon - barefooted
In the Park - use shoes.
I always have sprained toes due to the gap (very small but enough) between tatamis in JJ classes… ![]()
no, barefooted is gay.
I sparred for years with shoes on, then had to switch to barefoot and had blisters the size of siver dollars filled with blood on my feet for weeks.
But, eventually I got used to it.
I’ve broken many a toe…nothing like the old “the he ll with it i’ll just tape this toe to that toe and it’ll be fine” routine. Which never really seems to work…
I don’t spar bear footed. I spar 'possum footed. I once tried turtle footed but it was too slow.
You should try Badger-footed.
Here’s an old pic of a classmate and I sparring BEAR footed
BAREFOOT
LMAO @ Budokan! that was classic…ppl please..check your spelling…ha haha ha

i like to spar bare footed, it gives me a better idea of which kicks put me at risk of breaking my toe. In my tae kwon do days i quickly discovered that doing a front kick anywhere above the waste resulted in my opponent fist/blocking me in the toes. I immediatly chose to use other non- toe damaging kicks instead, unlike many of my classmates who broke their toes on a regular occasion. I am happy that my current style(wing chun) uses less dangerous kicks.
