Do you have what it takes to be the “best” martial artist?? Heart, soul, being? Do you have it, and if so, what makes you think that…and if not, why?
I most certainly do.
That’s because I’m less interested in achieving specific milestones than I am in simply getting the most out of the joyride called LIFE.
When I ride a roller coaster, I don’t hope for the end (unless I get motion sick). I enjoy the ride as it is and feel a bit regretful when the ride ends.
Every day, I go to bed knowing that I couldn’t have done more with my day given my current situation - and that’s a GOOD FEELING.
No such thing or person as the best. Sorry to be a downer.![]()
There is a sky above the sky, and a talent above the talent…
I guess I do, but why would you want too?
Never even thought of it this way. I don’t compare myself with other’s as much as I did when I was a beginner. I try to consentrate on MYSELF, on my development and improvement.
"Do you have what it takes to be the “best” martial artist?? "
I have what it takes to be MY best martial artist, but there is no such thing as THE best.
There is no need to be “the” best. only to do my best.
Besides, how would you ever be able to tell?
peace
See, you guys are on the right track…that’s what I wanted to hear. I hear every day, “I want to be the best, and kick everyone elses ass”. But, I am wondering how you guys feel about it!! thanks for the replys!
I DO want to be the best and I DO want to be able to kick everybody else’s ass.
When somebody attacks me, I want to make sure that I have the best chance of being the one who survives that encounter.

>I dont really care if I’m the greatest martial artist of all time, I just want to be MY best.
(I only say this coz really, I am the best already. But the other ones here gets so jealous) ![]()

mechanical breathing Join us, feel the power of the daaaaaaark side.
“shaolinboxer, I am your father’s brother’s sister’s cousin’s former roommate wannabe”
Being the “best” is the lonliest experience one could ever have.
if there is such a thing as “the best” I will try to reach it. But at the same time wish I will never reach it. ( paradoxical ? yeah, I know )
I’m the best classical violinist I’ve ever met face to face - and will yield nothing to any other violinist in history (including Heifetz, etc . . .)
It’s not lonely when you’ve got people studying with you and inviting you into their lives in exchange for violinistic information. I’ve had people come from all over the country and even overseas to study violin with me.
My goal is to pass on my Auer lineage to the next generation so that I won’t be the only one left. I’ve already succeeded in this regard.
I hope to reach that same ability in kung fu.
no…
because my heart is uncertain…my soul is fearful and being confronted with challenges everyday and learning from them. When you’re the best there is no uncertainty, no fear, no challenge and nothing to learn.
see now
