Do you guys ever lose intrest?

I was wondering if poeple on here have lost there intrest in MA and then it came back stronger then ever…or whatever…

nope

interest has always been there.

practice was on and off for a time, but the drive has been on a even plain for quite some time.

peace

No

Nope but sometimes I think to myself.

Self, why do you train so hard and so much?
Then I say, because you eat too many cookies

Hey joe (insert Hendrix style riff) mabey you need a change of pace. Try varying your training . As well try training with some new partners.

Bumps in the Road

I can’t say I’ve ever lost interest. I’ve lost the drive it takes from time to time to be a good MA and keep up with my current abilities, but I usually get over that in good time and plunge right back into it. But even during those lulls I never stop being a MA and that’s the point you need to remember, too. I devoutly believe MA is as much mental as physical. Even if you’re not physically doing MArts you’re still a MA if you have the right attitude towards your art and your perception of yourself within the framework of that art.

My two yen.

Exactly what Budokan said.

Ok

Budokan,
What if a person were to totaly slack off for a year or more. No practise ,no KFO not even a though about MA. Well a faint thought but stiil no real dedication towards MA.

That’s a pretty long time even by the standards I set down previously. Hm. I suppose you could still call yourself a MA if you followed the basic tenets of avoiding violence, watching your environment, etc. But you’d have to be honest with yourself that after a year off from physical training your skills would be pretty rusty. I’d even argue that the “rust” would seep over into the mental aspect you had cultivated. Certainly the opposite is true what with all the steriodal anthropoids who only focus on the physical and don’t bother at all with mental training…

Lost interest Martal joe?

rant

3 days a week, right after school, i get on to a bus and 2 hours later, after changing busses like 3 times i get to my WC class and train for 4 hours.
I don’t think I really lose intrest, its just… i think to my self, i could be watching TV right now and eating good food, or doing stuff with my freinds, but instead, im in some back hall of chinese food resturant rolling hands or doing SLT… and even when i shower now, the smell doesnt come off, i smell like chinese food… 2 hours on a buss so i can smell like chinese food…

LOL@CBA

You got it good and you know it!

At rude-ass workoholic women? Yes routinely.

…sorry, bad time to see the title of this thread.

Ryu

and on saturdays, I’m working at my uncles honey factory, so I can pay for it all…

The only time I lost interest was when politics reared its ugly head. After a week or so I learned to ignore it and everything was OK again.

CBA

Are you in Maple ridge or Coquitlam?

During sex I lose interest in everything but sex.

This past summer was a time of low interest in martial arts. The cause was the ending of a romantic relationship I had with another martial artist. I was a bit in the dull-drums in many respects after breaking up with him.

Life is like that though. I’m very excited about it again.

If i may add my two cents, i agree also with what Budokan said.

There are times when the drive to train simply isnt there, maybe cos you over do it or because you think about it so much you drive yourself crazy, but its ALWAYS there when you have nothing else (like religion), regardless of how fed up, or tired or anything.

I was going through a personal crisis at one point and one minute i would train my arse off and the next… nothing. But I soon realised that i shouldnt punish myself by NOT training.

yeah. MA is always there, i think that when you train for a long long time, no matter how hard you try, it will always be part of your life. Always be part of you.

Tae Li;)

Traning isn’t really ‘fun’, it is murder! Pain, blood, sweat, more pain, and alot of tireness. It is in-between the training that u can lose interest. Thinking, **** I dont wanna do that today. But it has only happend once, in the early part of training. (beginner level)

hmm, well I guess training is kinda fun anyway.. it just fun to hurt yourself in some twisted sick kind of way

Howdy. Never had any real interest anyway. Learned MA to fit in. It was offered to me and I didn’t want to say no because I liked the teacher. Stumbled along for 26 years getting by on 30min. to hour & 1/2 a day. Saw the necesity of it and carried on as it’s gotten be out of more jams than I care to think about. Had a bad accident 9 years ago with a prognisis of lifetime dissabitity. Five and a half months of chiropractic treatment and gradually increasing my chi gong training, healed, done! Now for eight and a half years I have been training chi gong, taolu and meditation, three and a half to five hours a day. Doing less has never entered my mind.
Peace, Toney

Often. Especially when I’m going thru a ‘****mood’ phase.

Drinking helps - I have to train then or I’ll get fat[ter]
