Do I need to eat?

I am about 5’4" and just about 120lbs. I am in good shape and I’m fairly athletic. For the past week I have been working out on my punching bag for 30-45 minutes workouts in preparation for beginning training in a martial art again (I did Villari’s over a year ago for about 3 months).

My question is, should I try to gain some weight and be between 130-140lbs? Or will gaining weight make me slow and bulky? The style I will be studying is a variation of Praying Mantis. I want to be very quick, but still have good power. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Is doing bag work for 30-45mins 5-6 days a week a bad thing?

Bag work is good but when it comes to Martial Arts technique is all that really matters.

As for gaining weight if you are eating heathy and excercising you shoul be fine no need to take extra measures to gain weight.

I hope your next school is not Valarii’s or the like.
