Just read this on Jim Fungs site…
Tsui Seung Tin was one of the four closed door students of Yip Man and the longest serving. During this time, he conducted most of Yip Man’s classes on his behalf. His diligent training and incredible insight into the art of Wing Chun saw his skills surpass those of his master, as Yip Man admitted in a newspaper interview before his death. This earned Tsui Seung Tin the unofficial title of “King of Sil Lum Tao”.
I hadn’t heard of this before - anyone know about the newspaper article and TST having surpassed the skills of Yip Man?
Comments please…
We all know how the “news” distorts things…
Tsui said out of his own mouth that he was never as good as Yip Man…I know this because one of his students…hist first white student infact told my sifu…
I can see clearly now the pain has gone…
Ah… all becomes clear - Yip Man still rules.
The urge to promote strong lineage is obviously still strong, as indicated by some of the posts on the ‘lineage thread’.
God only knows what this arguement will look like in 30-40 years time.
“You can trace my lineage… 5,720 masters all the way back to Yip Man. We teach the original WC, with all the secret mase techniques and sticky wallet training. Just check out my flying backflip kick to the nerve point on your ankle.”

All I know is that TST is an emazing guy…
My Sifu appeared in a mag article on MA weapons once. The article said that his teacher was the ninth grandmaster in line from Yim Wing Chun, and that he (my Sifu) was the tenth.
My Sifu never said this or anything remotely like it and never would. The writer made it up.
A retraction was sent out via the WCML and is still up on his website.
Newspapers and magazines write all sorts of rubbish. Don’t get the knickers in a twist over something which was probably misquoted or misattributed thirty odd years ago.
What makes him amazing, Martial Joe?
