Greetings,
Which is most import in Chain Punching:
Fast Hand Speed or A nice hard chain punch
The most important is ‘correct BODY mechanics’
speed and 'nice hard’ness come from correct body mechanics.
hand speed
fast hands will give you the power you seek, though you may not feel it. “If you feel the power in your arm, that’s where the power is.” Don’t stop the power, but let it flow into your opponent.
My two cents !!!
I’m so sorry for being my contraditory self again.. But I must say that it is when you do not feel the power in the arm that you have the power in the arm. Seek the void. The never ending journey.

That’s ok, we’re all entitled to our own opinions.
To answer the question, which is MORE important, fast hand speed or a strong chain punch – imagine yourself on the receiving end of both. Nice mental image, eh?
But seriously, what is the difference between a little sister’s slaps and a big brother’s one solid, well backed up fist to the head?
I don’t practice my chain punch for speed, despite there always being much to do in the literature about this speed record and that. Maybe I should. Nonetheless, I am not looking to win a speed contest but only to establish complete ownership over the every intention of my opponent. If I can do that with a couple of well-thrown chain punches, great – but any other method is just as good.
Hope this helps!
You could strike real fast with a pillow! You could hit slow with a heavy object…Same absence of results!
Work on getting a strong, fast and powerfull punch first. It is worth the times to carefully look at the proper alignment and relaxation for the delivery of power.
A wing chun punch should be a true weapon! Not some intellectual or esoteric concept. You have to TRAIN!
Old Jong
You make it sound like you can train it all at once – speed and accuracy. Accuracy can only be achieved through slow training (making sure everything’s alligned, etc.) – at what point do you start training for speed? Power?
I think accuracy and speed/power go hand in hand. The slow tan and fook motions in Siu Lim Tao are teaching alignment and the three punches at the end are real speed application…And result of the slow training.
Progress is the result of training both soft and “hard” aspects at the same time. This does not mean that they will progress at the same rate but eventually relaxation, good technique/alignment and power will come together…(With the help and endless corrections of your Si-Fu of course!)
I hope it was clear enough!..

Thanks Old Jong
I’ll keep at it
Seek the void… but don’t forget…
