I’ve been studying martial arts in canada for over two years and was just curious who, out there, trains in canada as well.
I’ve met some good teachers and some very bad ones. I’d just like to know of some good ones and what else is out there. I know alot of the good schools don’t advertise.![]()
I don’t wanna turn this into a Canadian martial arts VS Chinese martial arts thread… but I really think you should check out beaver fist style, instead of waisting your time with the foreign MA.
I’m Canadian. I’ve been practicing martial arts for about 2 years as well. I’ve been practicing taijiquan for the past year and a bit.

Hey I’m in Toronto. I was in Kungfu for a short period of time and now train Muay thai. I am perhaps interested in getting involved in kungfu again. Any tips on schools in the GTA? Preferably west end but I work in the east so if there are schools with classes in the early evening in scarborough etc I may be interested as well.
I have been looking into various praying mantis styles, and taijiquan as potential arts to take up. Also perhaps white crane but I’m not sure if that’s available in T.O. I’m a pretty big guy so I don’t know if there are any arts more suitable for a brawny frame or not…but I don’t plan on stopping Muay thai so perhaps a soft internal art would compliment Muay thai which is most definitely hard, and external.
Thanks.
Skarbromantis, Do you know if there is a lung ying (dragon style) school in Toronto?
