What is, in your opinion, the best martial arts manga?
I believe it is Dragonball / Dragonball Z, but the TEKKEN movie was pretty good…

Ninja Scroll is THE best anime dealing with martial arts themes.
There is an anime that is a better all-around movie (not really about martial arts) called Princess Mononoke. This one is one of the best anime films, period, IMO.

Anime and manga are NOT the same!
Most of y’all are talking about movies. Manga are comic books.
And the best is Lone Wolf and Cub.

Has anyone read Blade of the Imortal? I’ve heard a lot about those books.
Lone Wolf and Cub are certainly sweet books. My favorite story so far is the one at the end of book two about the Samurai woman who becomes a prostitute. Its a realy beutiful story.
I read the “Blade of the Immortal” series, but I never liked them because the plots always lacked focus.

Nothing, I mean NOTHING touches Kenji as the best martial arts manga. Where else can you see a great display of baji, taiji, bagua, aikido, aikijujitsu, karate, praying mantis, hung gar, etc.? It’s drawn and written well, I mean, this is the best martial arts manga. too bad it isn’t that popular.
I clicked this topic because I wanted to know what the hell is “Mnaga”.
Manga is also a company (or something) that produces anime films.
oh, and ninja scoll is better than Princess Mononoke

Manga is a generic term for comic books created in Japan. US Manga Corp was one of the first companies to offer official US domestic releases, but they released ANIME and not Manga. Viz Comics released the best manga. If you want to read an interesting manga, try GON.
Ninja Scroll and Mononoke Hime are both great Anime. Also, try Spriggan…JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure…Ninja Ressurection (sequel to ninja scroll, in two parts and still not complete)…

Kamui “a genuine ninja story” this one is the best.
I liked ninja scroll. If you guys like anime, you must, MUST rent fear effect 2 for the playstation. This game sucks you in. Took me nearly 8 hours of playing time to complete. It was an experience. Amazing. I recomend it in a cruel sort of way, you will love hate it and not be able to quit until it’s finished.
Ninja Scroll is the best martial arts anime, it also happens to be my alltime favorite too

Also, JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure is great (from the creator of Fist of the North Star).
Unfortunately, since manga are Japanese, there’s not really any about CMA. However, there are plenty of kick-ass samurai (and ronin) manga. Lone Wolf and Cub is probably one of the best but I like Blade of the Immortal better. The characters have a little more personality in Blade of the Immortal, IMHO, and I like Hiroaki Samura’s style. Plus Anotsu and the Itto-Ryu totally kick ass!
Oh, and by the way, I don’t really like the Dragonball mangas because the plot is weak and the fighting is too unrealistic for me. The earlier ones before Goku grew up were hilarious, however. I have all of those and they kick ass! Once Raditz appears (i forget which volume that’s in) the series becomes kind of weak.

The best anime is “Shoujo Kakumei Utena”. It has a lot of sword fighting and it in much better taste than all of the anime and manga mentioned here.
