another year younger

Damn, I’m 44 today! So I woke up to my favorite sounds of summer, cicadas echoing through the trees, took a walk in the sun, and felt the rain on my face (sun shower-these are great), put on my new birthday presents-saucony running shoes, and went for a two-mile run, did sam-sing on the trees, one set of iron wire, and one set of Yang short form as a cool down, finished up with standing hei-gung, went home, did my three s’s, and went to teach my noon class. I feel better this year than I have in years-lost 11 lbs since May-still need to lose more bodyfat-gain lean mass.(I have a six-pack, but it’s hidden behind a keg) I think for this summer, I’ll go over my wu-shu drills, and re-learn gwai-ding. Years back, I had the opportunity to learn this form and some other stuff from Yu Shaowen-team-mate of Lei Lin Jei-it would be a shame to lose it. I’m not where I want to be training wise, but by next year I hope to be a fine tuned machine. They say that martial artists are at their peak at 56 years old, so I’d better get on it-only 12 years left, and then I start to slow down! Old age and treachery will overcome youth and vigour, though so My next 40 years should be quite interesting.
