a quick hsing i question....

what is the upside down fist called?
[hand like an uppercut, but the punch comes straight out from the body, not curving upwards]

Sounds like you are describing the Water Fist, or maybe Earth Fist, especially if the fist is really rotated outwards.

“Do whatever it takes to be the last man standing!”

Either Pi (splitting) or Zhuan (drilling)

It’s definately not an upper cut though. Get that thought out of your head or you’ll never understand the movement.

i didn’t mean that i was throwing it like an uppercut, just that the hand position was similar - knuckles outwards from the body.
thats the only reason i compared it.

It’s cool. It’s my understanding that a lot of Hsing Yi beginners tend to equate drilling with an uppercut. It supposedly phucks up their game real good.

i doubt i could even be called a beginner haha
i’ve learned one hsing i form called hsing jin,
a form created by Ch’ang Tung Sheng.
from what i remember [i’m not sure if this is correct or not] it is a consolidation of the hsing i forms into a single form, based on his thoughts of applicability and practicality.
if someone can correct me on that, please do.
